Rachel Levine is the first publicly cross-federal official confirmed by the U.S. Senate

Dr. Rachel Levine is Confirmed as Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Health During the Covid pandemic, she was conferred by the U.S. Senate after serving as Secretary of Health of Pennsylvania. In the 52-48 votes of other parties, Sens. Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Collins (R-Maine) were the only Republicans to vote for Levine.

Levine started her medical career as a pediatrician at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She is a professor At Penn State University School of Medicine, she teaches topics such as adolescent medicine, eating disorders, and transgender medicine. She graduated from Harvard University and Tulane University School of Medicine.

In a statement in January, regarding NominatePresident Biden said Levine “will bring stable leadership and the necessary expertise to get people through this pandemic—regardless of their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability— —And meet our country’s public health needs at this critical moment and beyond.”

Even according to Republican post-Trump standards, the confirmation hearing is very annoying. Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) fiercely questioned her on gender issues and described the reassignment surgery as “Genital mutilation”. Levine is an adult in communication:

“Transgender medicine is a very complex and delicate field, and strong standards of research and care have been established. If I am lucky enough to be recognized as Assistant Secretary of Health, I will look forward to working with you and your office to come to your office To discuss the details of transgender medical care standards.”

Correction: Senator Collins also voted to confirm Levine.
