Review – I like interesting indoor and outdoor lighting, and I have written too many reviews about different products to link to here. One of my favorites is the lights controlled by the Twinkly series of apps, such as Flashing string. Twinkly is back again, bringing new products to the market. This time I use Twinkly Flex for indoor lighting. Let’s see if this is a lighting game changer or a burned-out idea.
What is it?
Twinkly Flex is a flexible LED tube that can be bent into different shapes. It is equipped with a variety of mounting hardware, so you will only be limited by your own creativity when creating a lighting design.

Design and features
If you have ever seen an outdoor LED tube, then you will be familiar with the appearance of Twinkly Flex. The controller is connected in series on the power cord and terminated with a typical wall power plug. The included straight slot clip and 90 degree clip can be glued or screwed to the wall. If you don’t know what to do, they will carefully provide four templates to show how to bend the pipe and where to install the clamp.
Like all Twinkly lights, there is a button on the controller that allows you to cycle through the included effects.
set up
The setup includes connecting the US plug adapter to the power pack and installing the Twinkly app.

After installation, you can let the app search for your new device. Once you find them, they can be used in the application and are ready.
Performance
LED tubes and light bars are a dime. So, what is special about Twinkly Flex? In a word, it has everything.
The LEDs in Twinkly Flex are addressable, which means you can create very cool effects for your lighting. And, if you are lazy or creatively challenged, they will provide you with a series of very cool lighting effects in the app!

I mentioned the included templates-they are here.

“Love”, musical notes, cactus, Christmas tree-each design shows you how to bend the pipe and install the mounting clips. So what did I do? I chose the rogue and let my own design.

If you don’t know, it is a martini glass. We have some old wrapping paper, the size is suitable for making templates. I traced the outline and marked the location of the desired clip.

It’s hard to see, but if you look closely, you can see that I plan to screw the clip to some points on the wall.
Let me say that this is not one person’s job. The tube will not bend, so you need to fix it in place. The more you bend, the more hands you need. If it were not for the help of my lovely wife, this matter would not have been completed. We put the template on the wall and started to install the clips. Because the tube is flexible, it is almost impossible to map it to the template 100% accurately, but it is close enough. We installed a few clamps, put the tube in, and then proceeded with the installation. Once we have everything installed, we need to adjust and move the tube slightly to get the look we want.
So, what is the result? Here are a few included effects.
We are very satisfied with the result and think it highlights our bar area very well.
In the app, you can control the color, effect, brightness, etc.

If you don’t like the included effects, you can edit them and customize the colors and movements. You can also use the app to map your design and then apply fully custom effects specific to anything you design. Another very cool thing about Twinkly is that you can combine different Twinkly lights and make them appear as a single light. This is very cool because you can’t connect multiple Flex lights together. But by grouping, you really don’t need it.
If you are in a party mood, you can add Flashing music Go to your Twinkly infrastructure and let your design jump with the sound it hears.
what do I like
- Really cool, neon-like appearance
- Colorful and vibrant
- Hose means you can design anything you can think of
What will i change
- Due to the tube design, the bending in the design is limited to 90 degrees, so complicated bending is a challenge
- A bit expensive
Final thoughts
I am very satisfied with Twinkly Flex. It looks super cool on our corner bar. If you have a hobby or interest and want to create an eye-catching luminous wall artwork, you can achieve it with Twinkly Flex with a little creativity and a little time. We have set up the Alexa routine, which can be turned on at sunset and turned off by voice command or time. Now, I might just have to make a lemon martini to celebrate!
