DAs Robert Koch Institute (RKI) continues to classify the current corona development as “very worrying.” It recommends “If possible, urgently cancel or avoid larger events, but also reduce all other unnecessary contacts.” This is from the Institute’s weekly report on Thursday night“If it is unavoidable, regardless of vaccination or recovery status, you should test beforehand and use the corona warning app.”
Vaccinated and recovered people should also wear masks, keep their distance, and regularly ventilate rooms with multiple people. In the case of respiratory diseases such as runny nose or cough, it is “absolutely necessary” for everyone (including those who have been vaccinated) to stay at home, but also contact the family doctor and perform PCR testing there.
Austria will become a high-risk region
Despite the sharp increase in the number of infections, Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) believes that the general vaccination requirements cannot be implemented. “That would make our country fall apart,” he told news magazine Der Spiegel in an interview published online on Thursday night. He is also skeptical of mandatory vaccination by nurses. Spahn said that he “would worry that we might lose a lot of caregivers because of too much stress.” However, he favors daily testing of caregivers.
In addition, the federal government wants to declare Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary as high-risk areas. Funke Media Group reported on Thursday that the classification should take place on Friday and take effect on Sunday. Therefore, individual communities in Austria should be excluded.
Recently, the 7-day morbidity rate in Austria was more than 700 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In Upper Austria, the value is close to 1200. It is planned to lock down those who have not been vaccinated starting next week.
People entering from high-risk areas must be quarantined for ten days. Those who are vaccinated and convalescent can avoid isolation if they submit a certificate of convalescence or vaccination to the German authorities before entering the country. If a certificate of reinstatement or vaccination or a negative test is subsequently submitted, the isolation time can be shortened.
Countries or regions are classified as high-risk regions, which are considered to have a particularly high risk of infection due to high infection rates. About 70 countries are currently on the RKI risk list in whole or in part. This includes several EU countries. For some areas where coronavirus mutants are particularly widespread, there are also regional categories of virus variants. There are currently no states or regions classified in this category.
