DHis illness rate skyrocketed again in the seven days.according to Robert Koch Institute (RKI) This Thursday morning is 8.0. The value was 7.1 the day before and 6.5 the previous day. At the latest low on July 6, there were still 4.9 new infections per 100,000 residents in 7 days.
German health authorities reported 1,642 new coronavirus infections to RKI in one day. For comparison: a week ago, the value was 970 infections.
To date, this incidence has been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the Federal Emergency Brake that expires at the end of June. In the future, other values such as admission will be more strongly considered.
32 new deaths
According to new information, Germany recorded 32 deaths within 24 hours. 31 people died a week ago. This increased the number of people who died or were confirmed to be infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus to 91,319.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, RKI has detected 3,740,325 detected Sars-CoV-2 infections. Since many infections have not been detected, the actual total may be much higher. RKI stated that the number of people who have recovered is 3,637,400.
Speed of propagation coronavirus According to the RKI data on Wednesday, the decisive reproductive number is 1.18, so it has been more than one week. This number means that 100 infected people will theoretically infect 118 people. If the value is always higher than 1, the number of cases will increase. If it is lower than 1 for a long time, the infection rate will decrease. The R value was previously well below 1 in about two months.
Germany has fewer vaccinations
The number of weekly vaccinations against COVID-19 continues to decrease. RKI wrote in its status report on Wednesday that since the third week of June, the total number of vaccines vaccinated each week has fallen, but did not give a specific number for the past week. According to previously published data, there were 5 million corona vaccinations in Germany last week (June 28 to July 4), compared with 5.6 million vaccinations a week ago.
According to RKI data, more than 49 million people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus at least once. This corresponds to a rate of 58.9%. 43.7% of people were fully vaccinated. For people 60 years and older, this proportion is more than 70%. For children and adolescents under the age of 18, this proportion is less than 2%.
From the perspective of RKI, at least 85% of people aged 12 to 59 and 90% of people 60 and older should be fully vaccinated in the fight against delta variants.
Discussion on the cost of testing for people who are unwilling to be vaccinated
Klaus Reinhardt, president of the German Medical Association, said that people who refuse to be vaccinated from the fall will no longer be provided with free corona testing. Reinhardt said: “If everyone has the opportunity to be fully vaccinated before the end of summer, then when on vacation, going to a restaurant or watching a movie, the unvaccinated rapid or PCR test must be paid at their own expense, which is fair.” German editorial network. “Ultimately, the community should not pay for individuals who do not want to be vaccinated,” Reinhardt said. Politicians should have made it clear that “in the long run, people who have not been vaccinated will face more and more disadvantages,” the medical chairman said.
The Federal Government’s Tourism Commissioner Thomas Bareiß (CDU) also believes that for those who are unwilling to get vaccinated, the free corona test will end, which is “a matter of justice”. Bareiß said on Wednesday that the cost of the test will be borne by the public, as long as not everyone has received the vaccination, this is correct. However, it is also clear that those who refuse vaccination must be aware of their responsibilities and should bear any still-necessary testing costs in the future.
Earlier, Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder had issued a similar statement. “Testing requires a lot of money,” Söder said. Therefore, it must also be considered whether everyone can continue to have the corona test free of charge if they have received the vaccination notice. Health Minister Jens Spann (CDU) said on Tuesday that they are still in the conviction stage. At a later stage, people can certainly consider ending the free corona test for unvaccinated people in Germany. In France, PCR testing will be charged starting in the fall, unless they have regulations.
