Rolling Square MagSafe® Desk Stand Review-A wooden stand designed to hold it or leave it

Review – MagSafe for iPhone has been charging for a while, and it works very well. Apple’s charger is very slim, easy to carry when traveling, and almost guarantees the position on your phone when charging. When you want a base, there are many options, but they will usually ask you to donate a MagSafe charger, or cost a lot because they have one built in. Rolling Square has a pair of new bases for use with MagSafe chargers. You already have them in a very arbitrary way.

what is it?

The MagSafe desktop stand (and MagSafe’s mini base) is a stand specially designed to fix the Apple MagSafe charger, providing an organization that is always in the same position while maintaining the flexibility to hold and use the phone normally when tethered.

What’s in the box?

Hardware specifications

• Walnut/Sapele solid wood
• Non-slip nano suction cup base
• Scratch-resistant PU suede pad
• N52 Neodymium Feedback Magnet
• Compatible with Apple MagSafe

Design and features

Both the Desk Stand and Mini Dock are designed to receive and secure the MagSafe charger without having to lock it in place. The solid wood structure is strong and beautiful, and each piece is unique. This allows you to easily pick up the phone while the charger is still connected, or temporarily slide sideways to leave the charge in the cradle.

The suede pad makes your charger scratch-free.

The desktop stand can lift and tilt the connected iPhone to 45º, making it the best choice for desktop use as you might have guessed.

The Mini Dock is very small and can work well on angled surfaces in addition to a desk, as long as you stay away from nearly vertical surfaces.

Both have reusable nano suction adhesive materials to hold them in place.

Set up

Both docks are easy to use, and the only detective work involved is to determine where you want to put them. This is where nano suction materials are very useful because you can reposition them whenever you need them.

Before peeling and pasting for the first time, clean the table top and make sure it is completely dry. When you glue it down, apply some constant pressure for about 15 seconds to make sure it gets a good purchase.

You will also find that it works better on some surfaces than others. Some problems may occur on uneven or fibrous surfaces.

Once stuck, place your MagSafe charger into the base, aligning the cable with the slot in the circle.

Put the phone on the charger as usual. When you pick it up, the charger will automatically stay connected. If you want to leave the charger behind, slide it sideways when you start to pick it up, and use the wall of the docking station to disconnect the magnet.

which performed

If you have been using the MagSafe charger alone, you are used to removing it from the back of your phone when you don’t want it. This is either pulling the rope or pushing it away with your fingers or other means when you pick it up. Other brackets usually work like flat Qi chargers, which may be tilted, and you can either charge it or pick it up, there is nothing in between.

The desktop stand and mini base seem simple, so they are very elegant solutions. Rolling Square’s patent is pending Take it or leave it They are used to describe the label line how it works, literally how it works.

The beauty here is that when you pick up the phone, you can decide whether to continue charging while using the phone or leave the charger behind. If you want the latter, just push slightly sideways before pulling. It takes a little time to adapt, but it will soon become second nature. This is how it works on the desktop stand…

The 45º tilt of the desktop stand keeps your screen at a good angle suitable for desktop use, and the 0º downward direction of the cable is easy to use whether in portrait or landscape mode.

The Mini Dock works in exactly the same way, except that it does not have a 45º angle. It is very easy to place your phone and then leave the charger behind when needed. Putting the phone with the charger connected back into the base is a bit tricky because the reference point of the cable slot is not defined and/or your cable may run at a 90º angle from the edge of the table close to the bottom of the phone. You can see this in the quick video here.

Due to the way the nano suction material works, the Desk Stand has a slight twist from left to right. It’s not a big deal, but if you like to fiddle with your phone in charging mode, it’s obvious.

My (IKEA) desktop is not super smooth (not the one shown in this review), and after about three weeks, I need to wipe the nano suction to restore the stickiness and reposition it on my table. I also did not over-clean before the initial placement, so I will attribute it to my process, but I think I will mention it because dust does occur.

what do I like

  • Simple and elegant base solution using MagSafe charger
  • A solid wood structure that should complement any desk
  • Provide a dedicated place for your charger to hang out

What will i change

  • Includes a clear round sticker that you can stick on tricky surfaces to help the nano suction box

Final thoughts

Desk Stand and Mini Dock are great solutions for anyone who already uses a MagSafe charger but wants it to stay in a specific location on your desk. The cool thing is that you can still easily carry the charger with you without having to buy another one. The wooden structure looks and feels great.
