Review – Since the advent of Apple AirPods Pro earphones, I feel a little sorry for other wireless earbud manufacturers. No matter how good their earbuds are-and many are great-none of them can compare with Apple’s Spatial Audio. Spatial Audio is an incredible 3D audio, added to the already good earphones. I can’t go back after listening. In other words, the sound quality of AirPods Pro is not the best in this price range. However, if you value audio quality above all else, including Apple’s 3D experience, then the range of options will expand a lot. Anker’s Soundcore division just released their popular successor Freedom 2 Professional Edition Completely wireless earplugs-Liberty 3 Pro earplugs. Are they worth upgrading?
What is it?
Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro completely wireless earbuds are: completely wireless. No wires, no neckbands, only two flower buds. Anker now includes Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), wireless charging, improved speakers, “enhanced vocal mode” and other improvements I will mention later in this review.
Four colors are available: gray (fog gray), black (midnight), white (frost) and lavender (dusk purple). Please note that depending on the light, the gray has a slight green hue.
The matching color shell is almost the same as the Liberty 2 Pro shell. It has a sliding cover to expose the earplugs. The charging case can charge the earbuds 4 times, and the total battery life is 32 hours. The earbuds are lit every time the case is opened. This is a great way to showcase Liberty 3 Pro.

Design and features
With the advancement of audio and Bluetooth technology, wireless earbuds (headphones) are getting better and better. In fact, they are rapidly becoming this earphone. Although they may still not sound as good as wired headphones or earphones, they are very close. I predict that in a few years, everything wired will be considered old school.
Supports three Bluetooth codecs. Soundcore abandoned the popular aptX in favor of Sony’s LDAC Codec. LDAC (Sony won’t say what it stands for) allegedly transmits wireless high-resolution audio. This is controversial. Do not The wireless signal source can match the wired signal source. In addition, Apple does not support LDAC-sorry, iPhone users. However, Liberty 3 Pros also supports AAC with SBC Codec.
Liberty 3 Pro earbuds are almost the same as Liberty 2 Pro, but there are some important differences. The most important is active noise reduction (ANC). It seems that Soundcore waited until they knew they could perform ANC correctly-and they did perform ANC very correctly. These are some of the best I’ve heard-not only the price, but the cost of headphones is much higher.
Soundcore implements ANC in a manner similar to Apple. They integrated the so-called HearID into the Soundcore app (launched with the Liberty 2 Pro earbuds). HearID will test the fit of the earplugs and create a curve based on your unique ear canal shape to enhance the noise reduction effect. Is it effective? Yes, it does. There is a built-in structure that can relieve the air pressure that may build up in the earphones through a tight seal. It is called “sucking ears” and this can be a problem. Because of the work done by Soundcore, Liberty 3 Pros has no ears to suck. As I said, Soundcore’s ANC is very good.
There are three basic ANC settings: normal (ANC off), ANC on and transparent. Transparency allows all external access-then some. You can actually hear more In this mode, not only your hearing. Think of low-tech hearing aids. Transparency also includes “Voice Mode”, which can enhance the human voice while reducing low-frequency noise. It works well. Soundcore announced an enhanced vocal mode in a future firmware update.
Provide a variety of earplugs and ear wing options, it is easy to find a suitable seal for HearID to work normally. Four ear wings of different sizes help to hold the earplugs in place while making them more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It may take a while to find the right combination, but Soundcore’s app can also help. Application testing is good for letting you know if the seal is working properly. This test works well, but I still believe in my own trial and error method.
HearID will also perform a hearing test to measure the frequencies you can and cannot hear. I am an older male and have lost most of my high-frequency hearing. This is a natural part of aging. HearID tested this and will create a unique frequency curve, I can choose whether to use it for music, movies or games. I have mixed feelings about this.
Although HearID created a custom EQ curve that I consider to be accurate, it overcompensated my high-frequency hearing loss and made most of my music sound a bit too bright for my taste. Interestingly, this brightness is not obvious in the Liberty 2 Pro I reviewed earlier. Therefore, I ended up using the 8-band equalizer in the app to create my own custom equalizer, which I am very satisfied with.
After adjusting my EQ, Liberty 3 Pro’s music sounds very good. Using HearID’s curve, the music has a hoarse, faint sound. Oops, Soundcore’s default EQ curve sounds better than HearID. It may be my fault that I didn’t perform the HearID test correctly, but I did it twice, so that’s it.
Soundcore uses what they call ACAA 2.0-a “coaxially aligned acoustic architecture with Knowles balanced armature drivers combined with 10.6 mm dynamic drivers.” This simply means that armature speakers (derived from miniature hearing aids) handle mid-range and high frequencies, while dynamic speakers handle low frequencies. If used properly, this is a good combination, and the Liberty 3 Pro earbuds can be used correctly.Again, for me, this is Rear My emotional intelligence preferences.
Soundcore provides what they call 3D surround sound for immersive environments in movies and games. When watching movies on my iPhone, I did notice improved audio and excellent stereo with some 3D effects, but this is not the killer of Apple Spatial Audio. At least, not yet. In my opinion, 3D surround sound settings have no effect on music at all.
Let’s talk about comfort. As I said, earplugs and wings are provided in 4 sizes. The shape of Liberty 3 Pros is oval, so you need to push and twist to get a proper fit. I have been wearing it for several hours without any problems. This is not as common as you think. In addition, once inserted, they won’t have nowhere to go. Please note that their sweat rating is IPX4-very suitable for sports.
what do I like
- Active noise reduction
- HearID hearing test
- Comfortable
- Don’t suck ears
- Economical
- Very suitable for music (after using EQ)
What will i change
- HearID makes the music too bright (for my ears)
Final thoughts
The Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro fully wireless earbuds are a great improvement over the previous earbuds. With ANC, surround sound, better call quality (more microphones) and no earbuds, even if you have the already outstanding Liberty 2 Pro earbuds, this is an upgrade worth considering.
