One of the things I really enjoy this time of year is spring cleaning. Daily cleaning, washing dishes, washing clothes, etc. I could do without, but there are real benefits to doing spring cleaning/decluttering. It’s like a fresh start before summer arrives. We usually approach it slowly, one room (or even a small space within a room) at a time.We’ve all been home sick for the past few weeks (months) so I’ve decided it’s time to call it a day be my bathroom drawer. It haunts me every time I open those drawers.I’m pretty sure the last time I organized them was when we finished the renovation Toilet. I kept making it worse by adding more stuff and ignoring the ensuing mess inside. It’s just another thing I don’t want to deal with. When I finally had my fill, I went to Target, bought some organizer bins and came home ready to declutter those drawers once and for all. Best of all, it only took me about 2 hours. Below is the result.

Start by cleaning out your drawers
The first step is to get everything out of my bathroom drawers. This way I can wipe them down properly and still see everything inside and remove any old makeup/skincare etc.
Measure drawer space ahead of time
before you go out organize trash cans, make sure to measure your drawer dimensions (and height) ahead of time. I like to use smaller bins to separate items and have enough wiggle room in each drawer so I can move items around.

Get rid of old makeup and skin care products
Don’t cling to old makeup and skin care products. If it’s been sitting there gathering dust and not being used for a few months (or more), it’s time to get rid of it. TerraCycle Has an excellent recycling program for skincare and cosmetics packaging. As a general guideline, here’s when you should consider giving up your makeup/skincare:
- Mascara and eyeliner: 3 months later
- Lipstick, lip gloss, lip oil: 1 year later
- Cream makeup (bronzer, blush, etc.): 1-2 years (After a few months, I dab a little rubbing alcohol on a wet wipe and clean my wipes).
- Eyeshadow: 1-2 years later (cream close to 1 year, powder close to 2 years)
- Foundation: 1 year or before
- Sunscreen: After 1 year
- Nail polish: 1 year later
- Beauty Blenders: After 3 months (I recommend get a good makeup brush but regularly cleaned).

You can organize your drawers however you want, but having all similar products together helps me a lot. For example, brow gel, mascara, and eye shadow in one box, and highlighter, tinted moisturizer, and foundation in another. All the products I use regularly go in the top drawer, then extra products, things I want to test eventually, etc., go in the bottom two drawers.
