On our first leisure trip abroad since COVID, my partner and I decided to go to London. We have stayed there many times and experienced many luxurious places…so we wanted to try something new and that’s why we chose the hidden gem Hotel Cafe Royal, just off Regent Street. What a discovery!
London’s luxury hotel offering is plentiful, from big names to boutiques. They are spread across the city, but when it comes to staying in the center, some specific names come up.
One of them is definitely Hotel Cafe Royal, a place with a lot of history Next to Piccadilly CircusOriginally opened in 1865 and last refurbished in 2013, it offers a discreet luxury to the happy few, with excellent service. Let’s review.
a discreet place
Despite the busy location, the hotel’s entrance is very calm and discreet on a corner street in – probably – the most congested area of London. Even the buildings, which are visible from every angle on Regent Street, show no sign of ostentation.
Even from the inside, you have the same look and feel, which reminds me of Aman’s “hidden luxury” concept. Of course, no matter where you are, you can expect great service – reception, spa, housekeeping – which is often a hallmark of a good, high-end hotel.
luxury room
The deluxe room we stayed in was on the last floor and had a nice line of walls. Facing Regent Street, the views are not stunning (too high), but the noise inside and outside was very quiet throughout the stay. a real fun.
The interiors are modern and contemporary, using the finest materials and furnishings – not to mention the Bang & Olufsen TV system and smoked English oak panels.
Special mention is made of the bathrooms made entirely of Carrara marble, including oversized bathtubs, rainbow showers and mirrored TV screens. Great place for Instagram!
Pamper yourself at Akasha Spa
This Akasha Spa A moment of relaxation awaits you after a long walk or work day. It is located in the basement and consists of a large swimming pool, a mixed sauna and a large jacuzzi.
For those looking for a deep rest, Akasha Spa also offers some treatments from two great beauty care brands, Aromatherapy Associates or Valmont.
Bistro Lutetia
On the ground floor of the open-air lobby is the Brasserie Lutetia. A great place for French food lovers, especially chef Eliano Crespi’s pastries. The restaurant is inspired by the original Brasserie of the Lutetia Hotel in Paris, from the same group The Set Collection.
We went there for breakfast only, which was actually a Royal English Breakfast (in a French bistro, yes). Everything was a la carte and we were very satisfied; very nice breakfast, nothing amazing.
in conclusion
Hotel Cafe Royal is the place to go for those looking for understated luxury. You may not find the best 5-star hotel, but it’s a good one – but not cheap either.it reminds me somehow Halkin, next to the green park. I would recommend going to the junior suites on the first or second floor, the ceiling heights are amazing and they have stunning views of Regent Street.
