A bold racial advocacy organization in Texas called “Dallas Justice Now” is telling “liberal” parents in the Dallas area that if they don’t sign a pledge to keep their white children away from Ivy League schools, then the organization will make it public. Announce their names.
The organization’s website states that “talking is not enough” and sacrifices are needed to make up for centuries of “injustice”. This group has announced that not sending your children to schools like Harvard is a good starting point, because it opens up a place that is acceptable to people of color:
Refuse to send your child to Ivy League schools and U.S. News and World Report’s top 50 schools, create space for black and Latino communities, and encourage friends, neighbors, and family to do the same. Imagine if the hundreds of thousands of places in these institutions were only occupied by marginalized communities. Imagine the opportunity. We can achieve true fairness in our lifetime, but only if white people are willing to sacrifice their privileges.
Those who do not sign will be warned in yellow before the endorsement. If they do not sign, the name will be publicly announced.
In an article Dallas City Wire, It seems that this has already begun to happen. A Dallas resident publicly opposed this promise, leading DJN to publish her name and job information. After Washington claimed that Tomlin was a racist, the lady Cassie Tomlin referred to DJN founder Michel Washington as a liar.
“I wholeheartedly refute and deny all the allegations made by Michelle Washington and Dallas Justice now,” she told Wire in an email. “Multiple sclerosis. Washington’s statement is in fact incorrect and deliberately misleading. Her statement is part of a continuing harassment campaign against me, a single mother, because she wants to advance an agenda. I am and always have been. Active advocate of social justice.”
Washington accused Tomlin of being the incarnation of the racist “Karen”.
“She donated $3 to DJN, but a few minutes later claimed that DJN was a scam,” Washington claimed. “Then she tried to weaponize law enforcement by calling the University Park Police Department to complain about these promises and trying to put our volunteers in danger. Calling people of color to the police when there is no imminent danger is a kind of Violent behavior.”
To be clear, the jury is still not sure whether this group is legal, not just to attract media attention, but DJN claims that they are now working with the Dallas City Telegraph A&M professor:
Washington added that DJN will soon launch an advisory committee that will include Professor Troy Harden, director of the Texas A&M Institute for Race and Ethnicity.
It is likely to be a real threat to the people of the Dallas area. If it is, I can’t imagine it will escape the lawsuit. It is very bold for a group to threaten people on its website. By bold I mean “risk of litigation.”
In other words, if this is true, then this racial advocacy group is resorting to intimidation and terrorist threats. The only reason anyone wants to disclose the names of those who refuse to sign commitments to reduce family education choices is to make them feel unsafe in their homes or to put pressure on their jobs to punish them.
