The 2023 Healthy Filipino Awards presented by the Department of Health and Galing Pook Foundation recognize exemplary contributions in health promotion


Following the continued success of the “Healthy Filipinos” campaign, the Department of Health (DOH) hosted the “Healthy Filipinos Partners Awards” on October 27, 2023 at the Philippine National Hospital to recognize partner organizations for their contribution to Filipinos’ healthy lifestyles Ongoing support and promotion. Presented in conjunction with the Galing Pook Foundation, the 2023 Partners in Healthy Philippines Award recognizes steadfast efforts for a healthier Philippines in different areas such as health governance. The award recognizes the implementation of policies, legislation that promote healthy behaviors and research agenda; healthy environments, defined by interventions that shape healthy communities, learning institutions and workplaces; health literacy, including social and behavior change communication interventions; and finally, citizenship, recognizing excellence in participatory governance , making a positive impact and empowering communities.

Recipients of the event include national government agencies, development partners, private sector partners and civil society organizations, with awards categorized according to seven priority areas defined in the Ministry of Health’s Health Promotion Framework Strategy (HPFS), namely: nutrition and physical activity, Environmental health, vaccines and immunization, substance control, mental health, sexual and reproductive health and violence and injury prevention.

Additionally, criteria for determining winners include impact, community empowerment, impact, scalability, sustainability and innovation. Partners who score 60% or higher in each category will receive rewards. Partners who win one category receive a Bronze Award, partners who win two categories receive a Silver Award, and winners in three categories receive a Gold Award.

Through this ceremony, the Ministry of Health aims to strengthen its cooperation with partners in the implementation of HPFS by highlighting initiatives that have been implemented and connecting its supporters with health development centers and regional health promotion units to establish possible partnerships. cooperation.

During the ceremony, the Galing Pook Foundation also recognized the citizen awardees and is committed to promoting the replication and expansion of the health promotion initiatives of the Healthy Philippines awardees through the SPACES project supported by the Australian Government in partnership with Oxfam, Agrea, ISEA and Current Alliance. The program supports a whole-of-society approach to promoting health-seeking behaviors and improving the social determinants of health.
