Late on Monday night, a photo began to circulate among California parents opposing the mandatory wearing of masks in schools or youth camps/sports activities. The photo allegedly showed the eldest son of Governor Gavin Newsom (Hunter). ) Participated in the indoor summer basketball camp without wearing a mask that morning. This photo is part of a social media post by the camp operator to promote the successful first day of the sixth week of the summer camp.
On Tuesday morning, RedState received confirmation from their children participating in youth sports with the Newsom children. The boy in the photo was indeed 10-year-old Hunter Newsom.
This photo caused an uproar among the parents. They watched their children struggle academically, physically and emotionally, while at the same time being banned from participating in normal schools and sports activities, while Newsom’s children went to expensive private schools in person—— Now obviously able to participate in indoor sports without wearing a mask. According to California’s public health guidelines, children between the ages of 2 and 11 must wear masks indoors when they go to school and “other youth environments.”
From the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) “Face mask question and answer“:
The CDC has determined that under certain circumstances, regardless of the vaccination status, everyone needs to wear a face mask, including:
Indoors in K-12 schools, nurseries, and other youth environments.
What is “youth setting”? (emphasize):
“Youth Environment” includes K-12 schools and nurseries, and Also includes youth day camps, youth sports And other youth activities, including drama and music performances and bands. The CDC guidelines are about to be updated for the youth environment.
Obviously, if you want to follow unscientific guidelines, you need to wear masks in the camp. Most RedState readers are willing to send their kids to summer sports camps, where they will not be forced to lack oxygen in order to participate, and Gavin Newsom seems to feel the same way. Or, he keeps doing this until he is discovered. Fox News also obtained this photo and asked about it in Newsom’s office.Newsom’s acne Reply in email statement:
“The Newsoms are worried about seeing unvaccinated children unmasked indoors at the camp where their children started yesterday. Their children will no longer participate in summer camps.”
First, it is shocking that Newsom even responded to Fox News (a network he often abused on Twitter), accusing it of collusion in all COVID deaths, and accusing the network itself of spreading vaccine misinformation and hesitating to make vaccines. Decided-despite the fact that many Fox News figures keep emphasizing the fact that they are vaccinated. He could have ignored potential scandals as many times in the past, and no one in the mainstream media would question him.His response indicated that the latest opinion poll showed that basically half of the likely voters in the state would vote to remove him. Really shaken his confidence in defeating the recall.
However, Newsom made two mistakes in the statement. First, he pretended to be surprised/worried that the children were not wearing masks. Then he punished his child and took him out of the camp. If Newsom wants to earn points among people who tend to be recalled, he can say this:
“As you know, I have always been a strong supporter of following science, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Although I am surprised that so many parents allow their children to participate in summer camps without masks, but I also helped my son last night I was shocked by the joy of returning home from the camp. When he told me of his day, he told me how good it felt to be back to normal and playing basketball with his friends. For the first time in a long time, he took Smile and fall asleep.
“I stay up late to read all the information I can about transmission between children and exercise. I learned from reading this latest scientific information and meeting with public health officials that we believe that if children take normal precautions , Such as washing hands thoroughly and using hand sanitizer after the game, they can exercise indoors without wearing a mask. So, I am now changing the guidelines…” Wait and so on.
Of course, none of us would believe that his transformation has anything to do with science, but Newsom has been at large.
Newsom claimed that he did not know that dozens of children (most of whom are under 12) would not be vaccinated or wear masks, which is unbelievable. Children under the age of 12 cannot be vaccinated. He is well aware that the camp has sent multiple emails to parents informing them that mask regulations will not be enforced, and the camp’s website and Social media profile Contains dozens of photos from the camp in the last five weeks, showing zero masked athletes.
In the fifth week, a parent sent a screenshot of the e-mail sent by the camp director to “Reopen California School” to “Reopen California School.” The organization has sued Newsom and the state for the regulations on wearing masks. The team posted the screenshot to Twitter:
This email was sent by a parent who attended the same camp. It’s absolutely impossible for Newsom to not know.
“Masks will not be enforced. Please note that we welcome your children to wear masks during the camp.”
Treat them well! I now know why Newsom chose this camp.

And, a parent whose child is currently attending the camp — in other words, their child attended the camp with Hunter Newsom on Monday — forwards the “reminder” email they received on the morning of Sunday, July 25 to RedState, which contains pre-camp updates. The email refers to another email sent a week ago, which apparently contains the same information. The same mask update that parents received in week 5 is also in the email.
The Newsons were told directly that “masks will not be mandatory”, but their sons are welcome to wear them-but the photo shows a happy, smiling young man who does not wear a mask, so they don’t care enough about his health to wear a mask. Or, do they know that their son really does not need to wear a mask? Either way, Newsom hopes that all other children in the state will suffer, but his children can ignore the rules, which is cruel to Newsom.
The camp parents who have spoken to RedState about this issue are worried that Buzzardball will be financially hit, and the mask Karens will launch a campaign to cancel the plan (in its 25th year). Hope this is not the case, but we will definitely bring any updates in this regard to our readers.
Update 8:15 PM EST, July 27, 21: Newsom’s spokesperson told The Associated Press The family just “missed” the email.
