Terrible dose
This was a shock for Britain: it turned out to be a terrible year for the Queen. In June 1992, the first excerpts from Andrew Morton’s book Diana: Her True Story appeared in the Sunday Times. It contains detailed information about Diana’s unfortunate marriage because her husband is notorious for cheating on Prince Charles, about his extramarital affairs with Camilla Parker Bowles, about Diana’s bulimia, Even her suicide attempt. Charles and Diana are still forced to retain their official appointments, just as they did when they went to South Korea together in early November 1992. The queen ordered the two of them to go there, showing the public that Charles and Diana were still a pair. But they didn’t have much to say to each other. Not only did Windsor Castle burn down shortly after their last official visit, but on December 9th, then Prime Minister John Major also officially announced the “friendly separation” of the heir to the throne in Parliament.
