As many people in the host country continue to worry about the spread of the coronavirus through major sporting events, the normal beginning of Tuesday’s countdown has become eclipsed. The day before, the fourth emergency state of the Olympic City took effect and will last until August 22, that is, after the end of the Olympic Games.
Approximately 18,000 athletes and officials will live in 21 buildings in the 44-hectare Olympic Village in Tokyo Bay. More and more delegations have arrived in Japan. This has raised widespread concerns in Japan about the spread of the virus.
There is also a distance of two meters when eating
Generally, the athletes’ village is the gathering area and meeting place for athletes from all over the world. But in Tokyo, Olympians can expect a completely different atmosphere full of strict rules. So they always have to keep a distance of at least two meters, even when eating. Athletes should reduce contact, do not hug or shake hands, and stay in the cafeteria for as short a time as possible.
They are only allowed to drink in their own rooms and are forbidden in public places. They must also always wear masks outside their rooms. It is forbidden to contact with local residents, and the same is true for tourism. They are only allowed to move into the village a few days before the first match, and leave two days after the last mission at the latest.
