Nancy Pelosi did what Donald Trump, Senator Mitch McConnell, and Rep. Kevin McCarthy would never do; put each other’s members on the investigation committee. The dictator Trump stifled any trivial possibility left for all parties to work in the aisle. McConnell’s career has been opposed to anything supported by the Democratic Party. Since he joined the cult of Trump, his secret belief in the one-party system has become more apparent. His anti-partisan way of governing runs counter to the democratic vision of the founding fathers, a democracy that blends the ideologies of the two main parties. This kind of hyperpolitical extremism is causing the polarization between Republicans and Democrats to be weakening, rather than strengthening our democracy. It also sent a message to domestic terrorist hate groups that it is time to attack the basic norms of democracy.
The indifference and dismissive attitude of the Republicans in Congress to the attack on the Capitol is shocking. It is ridiculous for the Republicans to promote themselves as a pro-constitution and pro-enforcement party. Based on an obvious scam developed by reality TV producer Donald Trump, the “big lie” was born after the failure of the “Stop Stealing” uprising. Gradually, true Republicans realized that Trump was managing his post-presidency like a cheesy reality show. It can be called the current episode; 1) “The President is out of touch with reality, 2) The Mad King is exposed, 3) Ten ways the President can stifle democracy, or 4)” Bully, sissy or traitor.
The ultra-conservative representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger will represent Republicans on House committees. Their task is to ascertain the facts about 1) how the rebellion was organized, and 2) coordinating access to the Capitol and supporting financially The rioters went to Washington, 3) whether any congressmen were involved, and 5) why and how the security department of the Capitol failed to control the rioters. Cheney and Kinsinger voted for Trump’s terrible policies toward the United States more than 90% of the time. However, once they saw him inciting a rebellion, they opposed him, opposed his campaign to sabotage democratic presidential elections, choosing democracy over political obedience and popularity.
The House Committee began a hearing, and four Congressmen and Washington, DC police officers were violently attacked in the Capitol on January 6. Although Trump dishonestly and deliberately chanted the “love carnival” between the police and the mob, the truth about their trauma and continued pain that day will be revealed in their testimony. Unlike anti-patriotic clowns such as Rep. Jim Jordan, Kingsinger and Cheney are serious about protecting democracy from Trump and most Republican colleagues who choose the party rather than the country.
Americans of all political parties should watch this committee’s investigation with interest and an open mind to understand how this rebellion against our democratic election process is so close to the truth of success. We should all want to know how, who, why, and when all aspects of the uprising took place so that we can formulate strategies to prevent one of the major parties in our two-party system from inciting another shameful and dangerous attack on our democracy .
