DIn the summer of 2021, the number of overnight stays in Italy by foreign guests has increased significantly. Ansa News Agency reported on Saturday that Florence’s Institut Centro Studi Turistici (CST) and Rome’s business association Assoturismo Confesercenti estimated that the number of overnight stays between June and August was approximately 35 million. This number is higher than in the past summer of 2020 in Corona, when approximately 28 million overnight accommodations from abroad were registered. However, they are not close to the time before the corona. In the summer of 2019, experts recorded more than 100 million people staying overnight abroad.

Criticism from mountaineers
