The Smith Family Comics – Episode 12 – Season 1 Finale – Out Now – William Mitchell – Modern Monetary Theory

Episode 12 – The finale of the first season of our new comic series – The Smith Family and Their Money Adventure – Available now. We'll let everyone cool down from the excitement and give us time to write about Season 2, which will begin on May 24, 2024.

In the meantime, have fun with it and distribute it to those you think would benefit…

The Smith family is a middle-class family living in a city in the world. Second generation parents are college educated and have professional careers. Their two children attend local public schools.

In episode 12, the final episode of season 1, we meet Elizabeth, who on her usual morning run receives a text from Chris begging her to leave Ryan and run away with him.

Chris has been attracted to Elizabeth since college.

Elizabeth realizes that Ryan is difficult, but postpones the discussion until later and decides to focus on her role as the organizer of the annual Fourth of July community gathering.

The scene then shifts to a party, where a local band (Kevin plays guitar) prepares to rock out, while various local characters take center stage and express their different opinions about each other.

Sources say the Smiths' next-door neighbor and Ryan's enemy, George Jones, is in trouble due to financial mismanagement.

He apparently believes what mainstream economists have repeatedly claimed in the media that the Bank of Japan has no choice but to raise interest rates to combat current inflationary pressures, and has begun making financial bets on such a scenario.

He loses badly and tries to recoup his losses before his boss finds out.

He sank deeper and deeper.

Chris explains why hedge funds cannot overwhelm central banks if they are willing to flex their powers.

At the end of the day, as George was led away in handcuffs by the police to prepare for court, Daniel expressed his distaste for his father's excessive lifestyle.

If you identify yourself with any of these characters, then either continue to spread your MMT knowledge or get our textbook and get up to speed, depending on which character you might identify with.

Any feedback you have other than “this sucks” would be greatly appreciated.

Season 2 News

This is the last episode of season one.

We expect Season 2 episodes to begin on May 24, 2024.

Dark clouds are looming for the Smith family – both in terms of family dynamics and the economy – following the government's austerity measures to reduce the fiscal deficit and the central bank raising interest rates to combat inflationary pressures.

Jobs are being destroyed, and as things turn bad at work, Ryan must confront his beliefs.

Will he see Professor Notal for what he is – a voodoo economist?

Will Elizabeth abandon Ryan?

So what about Minako Ide, the new exchange student from Japan? She moves in with the Smith family and attracts the attention of more than one local boy?

Many new characters appear in the story, and various family economic truths are revealed.

Making scripts and drawings is very time consuming, so we need to take breaks between seasons.

That's enough for today!
