Thousands of people around the world are demonstrating to protect the climate


TonThousands of people around the world have expressed their need for more climate protection through large-scale protests. As part of the Global Day of Action, thousands of demonstrators marched through the Scottish city of Glasgow on Saturday. World Climate Conference COP26 is held.

Halfway through the meeting, the protesters there were equipped with banners, flags and signs with climate information and raincoats to protect against the British weather, calling for more climate justice for people in poorer parts of the world.

Thousands demonstrate in Amsterdam

When the sky cleared slightly in the afternoon, the organizers of the “COP26 Alliance” spoke of the more than 100,000 participants in the protest march in Scottish cities. The police initially did not provide an estimate of the number of participants. Thousands of people gathered in climate schools in other parts of the world, including Amsterdam and many British cities.

According to the public broadcaster NOS, the organizers of the Amsterdam demonstration spoke of an estimated 40,000 participants, and the police and the city initially did not provide any information. When asked what she was most worried about, a young man said: “It’s very simple. The Netherlands will be completely submerged and the world will be completely destroyed.”


Activists in Amsterdam called on the Cabinet to take more measures to tackle climate change during a demonstration on Saturday.

At the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, about 200 countries are arguing how to still achieve the limit of global warming to the maximum tolerable 1.5 degrees. The meeting is scheduled to end on November 12. In Glasgow and dozens of other cities around the world, more climate protection demonstrations were also held on Saturday.
