On this week’s episode, Dan and Ian share their fourth-quarter business update, including why they decided to start an agency — Remote First Hiringfor startup founders under the Dynamite Jobs umbrella.

“The best clients for hiring committees often have super-strong recruiting practices built up over the years…(they) hire for the same roles multiple times. And for agency clients, usually startup founders, they’re looking to put those systems together. Buy into their business. They know they need to hire, they may hire 10 times a year. But every time it’s a little different, they want to buy into the system. That’s what the agency does.”

In addition, some good audience questions were answered, including: how much is ‘enough money’, the mindset challenge of living on capital, and some further reflections on the ‘European problem’.

  • Why Dan and Ian refused to build another agency, and why they were wrong

Most longtime TMBA listeners are already familiar with Travis Jamison’s SEO agency, Smash Digital. In October, they’ll be bringing back a free SEO video audit for pod listeners. Over 200 people embraced them last year, and here’s what the community had to say:

  • Noel Andrews, CEO of JobRack: “Smash Digital did a great SEO teardown and review of my site. Very detailed…lots of actionable steps…obviously a lot of opportunity from focusing more on SEO and working with Smash Digital Great benefits from cooperation.”
  • David Hehenbeger, founder of Flamingo: “Both of my companies were audited, but they both massively overdelivered. Could easily charge for them”.
