NThe Speaker of the US House of Representatives Ansi Pelosi has appointed another Republican Trump critic to join the committee to investigate the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Congressman Adam Kinsinger said on Sunday that he has accepted Pelosi’s proposal. This has appointed the body of Republican Liz Cheney. Cheney is also a critic of Trump, and she was selected to lead the parliamentary group under pressure.
Last week, the Democrats and Republicans escalated the dispute over the U.S. House of Representatives committee. Kevin McCarthy, the leader of the Republican Minority Party in the House of Representatives, proposed five Republicans for the agency. Pelosi rejected two of them, who are considered particularly enthusiastic Trump supporters. McCarthy subsequently withdrew all five of his candidates and accused Pelosi of “abusing his power.”
The committee’s first hearing is scheduled for Tuesday. Kinsinger said he will attend the meeting. The committee will investigate the background of the attack on the Capitol. Trump’s supporters stormed into the US Congress seat in Washington on January 6. Five people were killed, including a policeman.
