Uben E05 EDC flashlight review

Review: Why make you suspense? The Wuben E05 EDC flashlight is the winner. It replaces the two small pocket flashlights that I have been using in rotation for many years. I will try my best to show you its brilliance. (No regrets.)

Design and features

Uben E05 EDC flashlight There are 4 brightness levels. The number of lumens is shown in the specification chart above.

When the power button is pressed, the LED inside the power button will flash 6 times. I’m not sure about the purpose of this feature, but it shows additional attention to engineering and design.

The power switch is on the lamp tube. My hand likes those buttons better than the tail cap buttons on the small flashlight.

With the lights off, pressing the power button for two seconds will activate turbo boost or the brightest light mode. Otherwise, pressing the button will activate the last used brightness level. To turn off is to press for two seconds in any lighting mode. When the light is turned off or on in any brightness mode, the slow alternate strobe mode is activated by pressing the button twice quickly.

Five E05

The flashlight is equipped with a soft white rubber light diffuser that can illuminate an area when hanging overhead or standing on its end cap.

The tail cap end of the lamp is magnetized. The diffuser can be placed at the end for easy carrying, but the grip of the magnet will be weakened.

This is the AA flashlight next to E05 for size comparison.

In a pinch (or not), standard AA alkaline batteries are suitable for Wuben E05. This is very convenient if you cannot charge the 14500 battery when it is exhausted.

The clip of the lamp is well connected. It can be a pocket clip or a hat clip for hands-free use. It may be removed, but I guess you will damage the surface of the lamp. When placed on the surface, a separate clip can prevent the lamp from rolling.

Installation and setup

There is a micro USB charging port on the top of the 14500 battery. When charging, the red LED indicates “charging”. The green LED indicates “charged”.

Unpack the components, charge the battery until the green light turns on, insert the battery into the flashlight and put the light in your pocket until needed.

Test and observe

You get used to it by pressing for two seconds to turn off the light. I keep pressing and this activates the next brightest brightness level. I finally got used to remembering, “press for 2 seconds = off”.

Turbo bright mode is very much like this, as the bald head generates heat when it is used. I may have used this mode 5 times during the test for short-term and long-distance lighting. The lower lighting mode took care of all the other things I needed to do. I find that I use the low-brightness mode of most flashlights most often. But turbocharging is great when you need it.

I use the light diffuser as an overhead camping lamp when reading with my grandchildren. We are just under the dining table. When not in use, the diffuser fits the end of the lamp. The diffuser “glows in the dark” but is weak and will run out quickly.

Another benefit of the diffuser carried on the tail cap is the tooth protection it provides, if you sometimes tend to hold a small flashlight with your mouth, because my dentist does not know that I usually do this.

These outdoor photos show 4 brightness levels. Pay attention to the grass in front of the shed to indicate the spread of the beam. I like that the light is more like a spotlight style than a tightly focused beam style. These photos were taken 20 feet away from my shed. The lowest lumen setting at that distance outdoors is almost unnoticeable, and the light level is too low for the camera to focus, but it is suitable for indoor use when walking through a dark room or looking for objects in a closet, etc.

When you look at the lens reflection of the LED, you will also notice the spotlight-style lighting. When viewed directly, it almost completely fills the lens.

what do I like

  • Perfect fit and finish of all parts
  • High-quality look, feel and performance
  • The last brightness level used is the brightness level used the next time it is turned on.
  • The light diffuser is installed on the end cap and used on the lens according to the needs of the “candle”/area mode
  • In the case that the rechargeable 14500 power is exhausted, AA size batteries are suitable for this lamp.
  • Some people may prefer the charging port of the lamp itself, but the E05 is designed as-is with better water resistance. The battery charges very fast (in technical terms), and during my 4-week test period, it was not a big problem to remove it and charge it 3 times.

What will i change

There is no suggestion.

Final thoughts

Wuben E05 knocked off two mini AAA pocket lamps that I had used for many years. I still carry AAA lights in a tight dress, but considering the small size of the E05, it provides much more light than my AAA. With its rechargeable battery, pocket/hat clip and tail cap magnet, E05 is the EDC winner for me. I recommend and will buy Wuben E05.
