Uniforms made of plastic bottles! Well done to Thailand’s URGreen uniform upgrade campaign

Hi Earthlings! Guess what? URC Thailand is shaking up the sustainability game with their latest initiative, and I’m here for it! Towards URGreen Upcycled Uniforms Campaignstyle meets sustainability in the most fashionable way.

Here’s the scoop: URC Thailand has taken a bold step forward by turning something as ordinary as a plastic bottle into something extraordinary – giving their team new, super stylish uniforms. The best part? These uniforms are not just a fashion statement; They are the strong ones who save the earth!

What’s the magic behind these URGreen upcycled and eco-friendly uniforms?

Each beautiful shirt is made from 14 recycled 600ml PET water bottles. Yes, you heard it right! Those bottles you threw away without a second thought have been given a second life. From January to April 2024, URC Thailand collected up to 21,000 plastic bottles. By June, they had transformed it into 1,500 stylish new polo shirts made by employees. This is what I call turning trash into treasure!

What is the impact? Too big!
For each shirt, carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 1.714 kilograms. Now, multiply this by 1,500 shirts and the total reduction is 2,571 kilograms of CO2e. This is equivalent to planting 215 trees! How cool is that? URC Thailand is literally sewing a greener future one shirt at a time. They are truly committed to the URGreen uniform upgrade movement.

But wait, there’s more!
URC doesn't just stop at making uniforms eco-friendly, they make the entire process a celebration of creativity and diversity. Employees were invited to design new uniforms and after all the exciting ideas came up, Senior Employee Relations Director Vichida Pengnum’s design took home the crown! To top it off, the URGreen Uniform Upgrade Campaign featured a fashion show where employees showed off their new sustainable uniforms like true show stars.

What’s next for URC Thailand?
This is just the beginning, honey! URC Thailand is already planning the next wave of uniform upgrades, with the goal of producing an additional 4,800 shirts. This means they need to recycle an additional 67,000 plastic bottles. Talk about commitment to a career! URC Thailand set the bar very high and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Sustainable fashion is the new black and URC knows it!
This is not the first time URC has held a sustainable fashion competition. Last year, URC Flour joined forces with local brands AraPilak and Aecovas Apparel Use recycled cotton sacks to make environmentally friendly clothing. They prove that sustainability isn’t just a trend; This is the future of fashion and is here to stay.

URC: a household name with a passion for sustainability
You may already know URC from its iconic brands such as Great Taste, C2 Cool & Clean, Piattos, Maxx candy and Cream O Cookies– A must-have for every Filipino household. But did you know that they are also making waves in ASEAN with popular regional brands like Lexus, Tivoli and Fun-O? URC not only provides us with delicious snacks; They also meet the planet's need for sustainability.

So next time you open a bottle of water, think twice before you throw it away. Thanks to URC Thailand's pioneering efforts, this bottle could be your next favorite shirt. Fashion has a purpose – because looking good and doing good go hand in hand.
