Sharing is caring!
Although 24-month telephone contract transactions are still popular, over the years, many people have realized that it is more cost-effective to purchase a mobile phone in advance and then obtain a SIM-only transaction.
You can usually get the best price by signing a 12-month contract. However, in recent years, rolling monthly pay-as-you-go contracts have become more and more popular. This is especially true for young people, at a certain moment, sound Literally only for young people, only for people under the age of 25.
Since then, I have been a big fan of these pay-as-you-go mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) companies Gif Gaff Since then, I have often switched between Voxi and Smart.I often use one at my time View phone, In the quieter months, when I don’t look back or travel often, I don’t bother to renew deals.
So, what is the best option available today?
Like most things in life, it is not black and white; every company has tailor-made solutions that differentiate itself from its competitors.
Black Friday sale
sound
Voxi offers three offers for Black Friday:
- 50GB + endless social media for only £15 per month
- 100GB + endless social media for only £20 per month
- Endless data-unlimited data for just £30
All plans include unlimited calls, text messages and picture messages. They also include the use of 20GB in Europe
clever
Smart has two transactions. Both have a 12-month period, but you may get a similar discount on the next Black Friday.
- Double the data for 100GB instead of 50GB for only £15
- Unlimited data for £17
These are 4G contracts. Unlimited calls and text messages. Roaming like home in the EU, but they have a fair usage policy of 12GB per month.
Gif Gaff
GiffGaff has increased the data limits for two main plans:
- £10 is 10GB now 15GB
- £15 is 25GB now 30GB
These are 5G-ready, so the price of 15GB is very cost-effective. There is a 20GB fair use policy for roaming in the EU.
My advice
Mobile virtual network operator
The first big difference is which operator provides services to MVNO. Depending on where you live, different networks provide better reception. The three places I lived in used to be poor, and Vodafone was great. Now they are almost there.
- Voxi uses Vodafone
- Smarty uses three
- GiffGaff uses O2
- Lebara uses Vodafone
5G and 4G
Recently, with the introduction of 5G, we have seen another variable added to each network. If you buy a monthly contract from Vodafone or Three, you will get 5G as the standard, but for companies that use their network as a backbone network, the situation is different.
- Voxi has 5G in plans of 20GB and above
- Smarty has no 5G option
- GiffGaff has 5G on all options
- Lebara does not have 5G
Unique benefits for each company
Then, some companies differentiate themselves by offering unique benefits
Lebara is the only company that offers international airtime, which makes them a popular choice for people with overseas family and friends for a long time.
Voxi uses countless social media as the standard, so no data is calculated when using Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Facebook Messenger. Some plan options include endless videos, which work the same way, but apply to YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, My5, TVPlayer, and UKTV Play.
The main selling point of GiffGaff is to obtain PAYG’s monthly 5G contract in an affordable way.
Smarty is just cheap.
Voxi vs Smarty vs GiffGaff vs Lebra plan comparison
Based on the above, it is more difficult to make a favorite, but I break down the options into roughly 6 main options based on the data.
| sound | clever | Gif Gaff | Lebara | |
| The internet | Vodafone | three | oxygen | Vodafone |
| 5G | Some | Do not | Yes | Do not |
| 5GB or less | not applicable | 6 GBP | not applicable | 5 GBP |
| 10GB or less | not applicable | 7 GBP | 10 GBP | 10 GBP |
| 15GB or less | 10 GBP | 8 GBP | not applicable | 15 GBP |
| 30GB or less | 15 GBP | 10 GBP | 15 GBP | not applicable |
| 100GB or less | 20 GBP | 15 GBP | 20 GBP | not applicable |
| unlimited | 35 GBP | 18 GBP | 35 GBP | GBP 25 |
overall
My personal preference has been towards Voxi and Smarty. I currently use Smart only because its data is the cheapest overall, and I have a Vodafone monthly SIM card, so I don’t want to double it on Vodafone.
Lebara is not competitive at all in terms of data, but the £15 option provides unlimited international calls to 41 countries. If you have family/friends who often talk to abroad, then the other options are not competitive.
Although all of GiffGaff’s plans have 5G, I don’t think they are cost-effective in the lower plans. I think most people with a budget of £10 will live better because of more data rather than faster data. However, in £20pcm I would say their deal Better than voxi.
Smarty’s pricing goes without saying, it only works for 4G, but if you just want one basic option with a lot of data (and you don’t mind three), then they are the best budget options.
