VUCATIMES W1 Weather Station Review

VUCATIMES W1 Weather Station

Review -I’m kind of like a weather nerd.I have at least 5 weather applications on my iPhone. I used Geektool to create an automatically updated weather radar widget on my macOS desktop. I have one WeatherFlow Tempest Home Weather Station Collect data outside. If you are not a nerd like me, but want an easy way to understand the temperature and humidity levels inside and outside your home and local weather trends, then the VUCATIMES W1 weather station is a solution. Let’s see if it is a good thing.

what is it?

VUCATIMES W1 is a weather station with a color display that can report temperature, humidity, moon phases and weather trends.

What’s in the box?

  • VUCATIMES W1 Weather Station
  • Remote temperature/humidity sensor
  • USB charging cable
  • manual

Design and features

The VUCATTIMES W1 weather station consists of two parts. The main part is the weather station itself, which is a 6.4″x4.4″ color LCD display with its own built-in temperature and humidity sensors.

The back of the device is the power port and battery compartment. If you want to hang it on the wall, you can also use the built-in hook.

There is also a built-in stand, which you can unfold to place the radio on a flat surface.

The controls of the VUCATIMES W1 weather station are located on the top of the device.

You can supply power to the VUCATIMES W1 weather station in one of two ways. Provide it with 3 AAA batteries (not included) or use the supplied proprietary USB cable. Please note that this cable does not come with an AC adapter, so you need to handle it yourself.

The VUCATIMES W1 weather station is also equipped with an outdoor temperature and humidity sensor. This small sensor is powered by 2 AAA batteries and is not included.Surprisingly, this outdoor The sensor is not waterproof, so you need to put it under a covered porch or under the eaves to make sure it is not affected by the weather.

After turning on the weather station and outdoor sensors, you must set the time, date, and year. The VUCATIMES W1 weather station does not have a built-in atomic clock, which disappoints me a bit.

If you are using an outdoor sensor, you must set the channel before it can be displayed on the screen. Speaking of outdoor sensors, it has its own built-in display that can display temperature and humidity. By default, even if you set the weather station to Fahrenheit, the temperature on the outdoor sensor will be displayed in Celsius. Later I learned that there is a small button in the battery compartment of the outdoor sensor to switch between C and F.

The weather station also displays moon phases and weather trends.

One thing to remember is that if the weather station loses power, it will also lose all settings. To my surprise, if you plug in the weather station with a USB cable and lose power, putting the battery in the weather station will not save the settings. This seems to be a huge failure to me. So I contacted someone from VUCATIMES and asked this question. They told me that if the battery is installed and the USB cable is used and the power is off, it should save the settings. I tested it several times and didn’t find it to be true. After installing the battery and connecting the USB cable, I unplug the USB cable and everything will be fine after a few seconds. Then the weather station will beep and the settings will be restored to default values. The time will return to zero and the temperature will reach degrees Celsius.

It is also important to know that if you only want to run the VUCATIMES W1 weather station on battery, the backlight will only stay on for about 20 seconds before turning off. Then, you need to press the nap/light button on the top of the device. When the backlight is off, you can still see the information on the screen (see above), but it is very dim until you press the button to turn on the backlight.

what do I like

  • Simple to use
  • Bright color display

What will i change

  • Includes batteries for weather stations and sensors
  • Allow the battery to back up settings when a power failure occurs when the battery is plugged in
  • Make remote outdoor sensors waterproof

Final thoughts

I like the price of the VUCATIMES W1 weather station and the bright display, but I don’t like that it will not save the settings when the power is off, not including the battery, and it does not have a built-in atomic clock to automatically set the time. If these things don’t bother you, then this is an easy-to-use and affordable weather station.
