A 28-year-old French adventurer broke the world altitude record for standing on a hot air balloon after reaching 4,016 meters above western France.
On Wednesday, Remi Ouvrard, wearing a white astronaut suit, performed a stunt for the annual Telethon charity event in France on a balloon piloted by his father.
Ouvrard said the weather conditions were “perfect” for his use, and he used a selfie stick to broadcast his video on social media early in the flight.

At an altitude of 3,500 meters, his father told him that he wanted to calm down because the oxygen was rapidly thinning, but he said that because of the hot air balloon under his feet, he did not feel uncomfortable due to the cold at high altitude.
“I’m boiling!” He said afterwards.
Ouvrard maintained the last record set in 2019, standing on a 1,217-meter-high balloon.
