We have abused our desire for nostalgia-RedState


I can’t help thinking about what we are eager to lose. I am not just referring to random brands and intellectual property rights, I am referring to a culture. Certain things about our minds and hearts have always wanted to go back, and the market is there to give us.

Star Wars is a brand that has won the hearts of people around the world and acquired a cult-like status. It defines science fiction, no matter which country you are in, if you say “Luke Skywalker” or “Han Solo” or “Lightsaber”, people will immediately know what you are talking about.

Now, in our attempt to restore that sense of wonder, it is so abused and overused that when people hear the word “Star Wars,” they shrug their shoulders and go back to what they are doing. They introduced a sense of modernity to the franchise, and now the distant galaxy feels too close to home. Let us face the facts.
