Crowdfunding News – Traveler Mobile Office – (MOFT) launched a new product Smart Desk Mat. I personally supported several of their past projects and found these products very interesting. However, since I don’t travel as often as 2-3 years ago, there is not much demand for using their booths, but I still like them. I hope that at some point, I will travel again, even if I just go to the local cafe that day.
This product looks more like a home office type setting, similar to Work home office I just reviewed it, but not in that detail. There are magnets hidden inside, which can be connected to mobile phone chargers, watch chargers, memo holders, tablet stylus pens (and the tablet itself) and other things. It has a leg cushion, so you can use the whole thing as a substitute for a laptop desk. The main stage can be elevated to multiple angles for better entry while working. The mat starts at $79, with several levels of adjustment and several levels of investment. (Do you understand what I did there?) The mobile office is a well-funded Kickstarter project (more than $450,000 of their $20,000 goal!) and they are very good at delivering items on time.
This mat uses the metaphor of a desk mat-people used to put it on their desks before their desks became a place for large computers and monitors. Put pens, calendars, post-it notes and other places where you often need them. Early in my career, I was full of desire for many different luxury models, and there were many interesting models before computers ruled the world.
I don’t like typing on surfaces that are more than 90º with my body (like the keyboard in the picture), but it won’t bother some people.
