Italy and England played football for two hours, but still did not decide the winner of the 2020 European Championship. They fought a penalty kick to break the 1-1 tie, and Italy won the coveted trophy in the final save.
This is the first time since Czechoslovakia defeated West Germany in 1976, the European championship title was decided by a shootout.
Sunday’s game at Wembley Stadium went through two additional stages before the penalty kick began. Italy shot a dart into the left side of the net, then England shot from the same position to equalize it. Before Harry Maguire found the upper right of the net, England blocked Italy’s second shot, and England led 2-1.
When Domenico Berardi found the middle, Italy’s third shot was good, and when England’s next shot missed the left post, the score was tied after three strokes, 2- 2.
Italy led 3-2, and England’s fourth shot was blocked. Italy’s Jorginho could have won the fifth shot, but was blocked. Then, Bucayo Saka, one of the youngest players in European history, his shot was blocked by Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Although Italy is the official host country of this year’s game, this victory made the Italians go crazy at home to England.
When Luke Shaw scored only two minutes into the game, England excited the home audience. England maintained a 1-0 lead until the end of the half, and then within 22 minutes of the second half, Italy’s Leonardo Bonucci equalized the score. Bonucci’s goal was only 12 minutes after he was shown a yellow card.
The two teams held a tie at the end of the 90 minutes, and then remained 1-1 after two 15-minute overtimes.
Portugal was the defending champion in 2016, when they defeated France in the final.
On Sunday, the royal family made headlines due to Prince George’s reaction during the game.
Prince George of Cambridge, his son Prince William And Catherine, showed the ups and downs of watching international football. He melted the hearts of Britain and the world.
The family is part of the noisy crowd at Wembley Stadium, watching England play against Italy at the 2020 European Championship.
Various fragments of Prince George are circulating on the Internet, including the country’s national anthem, England’s only goal in the rules, and the heartbreak of losing the championship. After Italy won 1-1 with a penalty kick (3-2), William comforted the apparently sad George.
