Crowdfunding review – How many tissues do you throw away in a day, a week, a month, a year? I know that we use a combination of roll paper towels and napkins in my house. convenient? Yes. waste? really. Is there a better substitute for paper towels? This is where Yowel comes in. Let’s see.
What is Jowell?
Yowel is an environmentally friendly and reusable/washable alternative to expensive disposable paper towels.
According to Yeovil:
Globally, discarded paper towels generate 254 million tons of trash every year.
The problem with any dialogue about sustainability is to define it. For example, most cotton towels are made with large amounts of pesticides and are shipped from overseas. Therefore, the front-end pollution is huge. The main way to solve this problem is to use certified organic cotton. However, due to cost, you will greatly reduce the adoption rate in the mainstream market, and this is what we think we can do best. For example, we believe that each pack of Yowels will reduce the use of 90 rolls of paper towels. If you have 10,000 people trading their paper towels, we can save 900,000 rolls of paper towels and the plastic they wrap, the diesel on the trucks that transport them, the carbon dioxide that produces them, and the methane that is produced through decomposition. Even if it is halved, 450,000 rolls can be saved.
What’s in the package?
- A countertop or undercounter dispenser, including 40 towels
- Drawstring mesh laundry bag
- Laundry bag hook
Design and features

Yowel sent me two versions of their shopkeeper. There is a countertop version, which is designed to be placed on counters, tables, workbenches, etc. It is made of plastic and has two openings. One on the front and one on the top.

The base has non-slip feet.

The idea is that you pull out a Yowels from the front slot, and then you can insert a clean Yowels from the top slot. Note that you don’t have to fold them. Just get them in.

The towel itself is made of soft viscose fiber and polyester.

They may look meshed and delicate, but they are not. You can immerse them in water, use them to scrub stains and grime, then rinse, pour out the water, and repeat.
Each dispenser is equipped with 40 Yowels, and each Yowels can be washed and dried 100-150 times. A set of Yowels has been used at least 4000 times.

This is the under-cabinet version of Yowel distributor. If you look closely, you will find that my sample is 3D printed. That’s because they are prototypes.

I prefer the countertop version, because as you can see from the picture above, I already have an under-cabinet tissue holder.

Once your Yowel is dirty, you can put it in a mesh bag and wash/dry it with other clothes instead of throwing it away. I glued the Yowel laundry bag to the side of the dryer, and when I put down other kitchen towels, I threw the dirty Yowel in.
According to Yowel, towels can be washed and reused 150 or more times without degradation. Don’t try to use traditional paper towels!
what do I like
- Reusable
- Soft
- Cheaper than buying tissue packs over and over again
What will i change
- Glad to know where to recycle Yowels
Final thoughts

We mainly use Yowels as a substitute for disposable napkins and clean up mess in the kitchen. When we use them as napkins, we sometimes use them multiple times (depending on what we eat). This reminds me of when I was a kid, we had napkins made by my mother, with our initials on the napkin rings. We used them all week and then replaced them with clean ones.
I like that Yowels lasts longer than traditional paper towels and napkins, and it saves me money. I just want to know if there is a way to recycle the worn-out Yowels that are no longer in use.
