Review – The Olight Parrot Knife is a sharp cookie. Or a cookie cutter. Or whatever you need to cut. Olight has been making flashlights for a while, but has added knives to its line of useful hardware. This is reliable, low-tech, and can effectively accomplish its design goals. Mini spoiler – I can’t find any suggestions to improve the Olight Parrot knife.

Design and Features
The G-10 handle material offered as an option is not described on the Olight website. I asked and Olette replied: “G-10 is a high pressure fiberglass laminate, a composite material. It is made by stacking multiple layers of glass cloth, soaking in epoxy resin, and then compressing the resulting material under heat until the epoxy resin It’s made by curing. It’s made from flat sheets, usually just a few millimeters thick.”

I reviewed an Olight Parrot knife with micarta handle material. It has a unique texture. The surface is smooth and feels almost fabric-like, not slippery. The knife is held firmly in the hand during use. Micarta is solid and has no liners. It will be interesting to see what it wears. This isn’t a weapon knife, so I think the smooth-surfaced micarta would work well for an everyday utility knife.
Olette coins appear to be objects that were added without a purpose. Do Knife Collectors Want Knife Maker Coins? There’s even a small coin pocket inside the fabric carrying case. I’m not a collector, but I have a bunch of knives. This is the first time I have received coins with a knife.
I’m also not sure about the pocket suitcase. I think most people keep knives in their pockets or in their pockets, but not in a pocket box. If the Parrot were a toolbox knife, this case might be useful, but I think most people would want to carry this knife.
These extra items add to the cost and shipping weight of the knives and can be omitted without missing out.
I had trouble reaching the flap of the blade with my index finger, but if I held the knife sideways and moved the flap up with my thumb, it worked. If I add a little wrist motion to my thumb motion, I can deploy the blade quickly. This is mostly for fun or convenience as this is not a weapon knife. During my testing, the blade action didn’t loosen up.

I’m not a fan of serrated blades. I know they serve a purpose, but I rarely need to see things with my knife, so I prefer unserrated edges. Olight Parrot has a very sharp, serrated cutting edge. I really like the modified sheepshoe blade. A true sheepshoe design makes no sense and has a fairly straight cutting edge. The Parrot does its job when you need it, but it’s clearly not a skinny, flimsy stiletto.

installation and setup
There is no factory oil coating on the blade, so the knife can be carried and used straight from the box.

what do I like
- The blades are very sharp and do not need to be sharpened before use.
- The micarta handle feels comfortable in the hand and is comfortable to handle and use.
- The knife is comfortable to hold in the hand and is stable when gripped.
- Frequent opening and closing, the blade is not loose.
- The Parrot successfully cut everything I needed during testing, including mandatory box openings, cords, cords, hard plastic product packaging, zippers, price tags, plastic shipping bags, and other household items.

what would i change
- I don’t think there is a need for a case or a coin, but no other complaints!

final thoughts
Olette parrot knife is very good Electronic data center Knife. I think the micarta handle is excellent and the blade holds its edge very well as it shows no signs of needing sharpening. Depending on how it performs, this could be a great addition to your EDC, so I totally recommend the Olight Parrot folder.
