I’m reviewing the OPPO Find X5 Pro, and like its predecessor, it’s one of the most expensive and best phones of the year.
For high-priced flagship phones, one of the main selling points is the camera. This is the main reason I use to justify my increasingly expensive phones.
I travel a lot (or used to) and love taking pictures. I’m not a particularly keen or good photographer. I just want to remember good pictures of all the places I’ve been to with minimal effort. I don’t want to carry around a mirrorless camera or even a compact camera.
My current primary phone is the Pixel 6. I was going to keep the Pixel 6 Pro, but while I was reviewing it, spending so much just for the excellent 48MP 4x optics with travel prospects still uncertain seems like a lot of money this year.

The Sony IMX766 is an excellent camera sensor and one of the best on the market. However, it is worth noting that this is the same specification as the OPPO Find X3 Pro. The only difference is the new Hasselblad color calibration.
The Sony IMX766 is also used in more affordable phones like the Realme GT2 Pro and the OnePlus Nord 2. As a result, it’s starting to feel less impressive than it used to be.
The camera specs are also very close to the OnePlus 10 Pro.they are a little different Sony IMX789 main sensor, which is the same as ultrawide. Zoom lenses have lower resolution but higher zoom. Both phones are calibrated by Hasselblad.

The OPPO Find X5 Pro camera is about the same as last year’s phone, but slightly improved. Both are excellent cameras, and this is one of the best camera phones on the market.
There are only a few Android phones over £1000 on the market, and if photography is important to me, I think I’d choose the OPPO Find X5 Pro over the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
However, competition is fierce. The Pixel 6 Pro is probably the cheapest alternative to its camera.
I think the Realme GT2 Pro is an unexpected contender as a replacement. The Sony IMX766 does a great job on the standard Realme GT2, and then you have a 150˚ ultra-wide lens that should take impressive pictures.
You also have the Mi 12 Pro, the Honor Magic4 Pro coming soon. Based on hardware alone, both phones should offer equal or better all-around performance.
