Review – If I remember correctly, I bought bone conduction headphones from AfterShokz a few years ago. I like their design and function, but I also remember that they are a bit stiff and stiff, and will hurt around my head after wearing them for a while. I still remember that they parted ways with them after they broke up, I believe this was the result of their too rigid. I can see that the design has evolved over the years, and now I can test one of their new models. Enter the AfterShokz Aeropex open-ear endurance headset.

What is it?

AfterShokz Aeropex open-ear durable earphones have an IP67 waterproof rating and are compatible with iPhone and Android, as well as Bluetooth-enabled PC and Mac computers. They are designed to provide high-quality sound and include a built-in long-lasting battery. They are available in two sizes: standard and mini.

  • Open ear comfort: Our open-ear design with bone conduction technology allows you to fully understand the surrounding environment without earplugs and comfortable listening. There are now 2 sizes to choose from to maximize comfort and ensure a firm fit. The strap size of Aeropex Mini has been shortened by 0.5 inches.

  • waterproof: The IP67 rating makes them completely sweat-proof and waterproof to meet intense exercise and extreme weather. The moisture detection alarm ensures safe charging. Not suitable for swimming.

  • Premium sound quality: Aeropex is powered by the patented 8th generation bone conduction, Bluetooth 5.0 and PremiumPitch 2.0+™, which provides clear sound, powerful volume and rich bass.

  • Lightweight + comfortable: Meet your new favorite training partner. Our lightest wireless earphones are designed for athletes, allowing you to listen comfortably throughout the day, while keeping you motivated and aware of your surroundings.

  • 8 hours of music and calls: With 8 hours of battery life and simple commands such as play, skip, pause, and rewind, you can enjoy music, calls, audiobooks, and podcasts throughout the day.

The earphones are very flexible and feel like they are made of ABS/plastic and rubber. The multi-function buttons are on the left, and the power/volume control, LED and connection ports are on the right.

Performance

The first task is to charge the AfterShokz Aeropex open-ear durable headphones. The LED lights up in red when charging, and lights up in blue when fully charged:

The earphones fit comfortably on the back of my head and the top of my ears. I think the correct name used in the anatomical description is “tragus”. The multi-function buttons are on the left and the volume buttons are on the right.

So far, the performance of these headphones is flawless. The sound is suitable for headphones, they are comfortable to wear, can be easily connected via Bluetooth, and can be worn for a long time. They are very lightweight, and I use them and sound files at night to help me fall asleep. I like to play rain and thunder when I sleep. These headphones are better than earplugs because they can be fixed in place, and the battery lasts all night and is longer than my Apple airpods.

For music, the several genres I’ve heard sound good, but despite the manufacturer’s mention of enhanced bass, people should have realistic expectations of what you hear through bone conduction. These can’t be compared with audiophile headsets, I think this is not part of the intended design.

Both parties on the call are very clear, but remember that if someone approaches and your volume is turned up, they may hear your conversation. This is the same for music.

what do I like

  • Build quality
  • flexibility
  • Lightweight and compact design
  • The sound it produces
  • It is waterproof
  • Very comfortable to wear for a long time

What will i change

  • Honestly, I can’t remember anything now

Final thoughts

Using AfterShokz Aeropex open-ear endurance headphones reminds me of how much I like the manufacturer’s previous headphones, but these headphones are unlikely to be damaged and provide excellent connectivity. They are light weight, comfortable and good sound quality. Their sound can’t be compared to closed-end headphones, but they work well when making calls and listening to music. I also like that I can hear what is happening around me because my ears are not covered. Although opinions on this device may vary depending on preferences, I am satisfied with these headphones and give two thumbs up! !
