review – I’ve been 3D printing for a while and am by no means an expert, but with the help of online resources I’ve been able to make decent prints on my older and smaller filament printers, but I can print Made in limited sizes. Let’s see if ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus can help me improve my printing.

The ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus is a mid-sized filament 3D printer that fits nicely between ANYCUBIC’s smaller Kobra (22x22x25 cm) and larger Kobra Max (40x40x45 cm), with a maximum print size of 30x30x35 cm.

Design and Features
The ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus was well packaged to prevent any damage during shipping, I was able to get everything laid out and then check the instruction manual. Assembly is very simple, use four bolts to attach the frame to the base and three more bolts to attach the LCD panel. Remove the bunch of zip ties (make sure to put the zip ties under the build plate) and connect all the cables to the correct places. Supplied with extra bolts along with grease, a nifty little kit and an extra 0.4mm brass volcano nozzle (more on that later.)
I took the time during the assembly of the ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus 3D printer to make sure I got everything nice and comfortable, I checked all the roller guides and I did need to adjust some. Due to the size and expected weight required for larger prints, the base plate has six roller guides. I made sure all the straps were in good shape and easy to adjust with the external knobs, and quickly fired it up, ran the auto-leveling routine, and fed in the white filament that came with the 10M. I inserted the microSD card and started a preloaded owl test print. With the stock settings, it performed very well, with only some slight stringing on the ears. Printing took 2 hours and 50 minutes. This used up all the white test filament, but ANYCUBIC kindly sent me a roll of silver PLA+ filament, the recommended printing temperature range is 200-230°C, but I ran a couple of temperature test towers and found it performed at 200° Better C or even 190 °C so I ran some extraction test towers at these temperatures and was able to determine that 4mm retraction at 50mm per second worked best at these temperatures so I took different The resolution printed some 3DBenchy, although there was still some threading I didn’t want to use up all the filament for more testing as I had some big ideas next.
That’s what this printer is for, making large prints, for my first large print I chose a full size Mandalorian helmet, which I have in Ultrathin Universe The printed dimensions are 292mm high, 293mm wide and 293mm deep with a wall thickness of 6-7mm.
I did have to tilt it on the build plate to fit, but it did fit. Halfway through the print, I noticed some vibration as the helmet got taller, but I could use the LCD panel to slow down the print a bit, which helped.
Printing takes 80 hours, and the consumables are about 750 grams. The ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus can definitely handle large prints with the right settings, next time I’ll slow down the nozzle movement a little to reduce vibration as the print gets taller and heavier. Now, while I’m going to go slower, I think I could use a larger 0.8mm nozzle to reduce print time overall, if ANYCUBIC included one instead of the other 0.4mm stock as a dual drive bowden extruder and volcano The printhead, that’s great hotend is not only able to handle larger diameters, but may cut print times in half.
Also, if the Kobra Plus comes with a spool holder that can actually hold larger rolls, then the amount of filament needed for larger prints may require 2 or 3 kg. If you’re going to use a larger roll, you’ll have to print a new holder or make other modifications, as they won’t fit the included spool holder. You can easily find what to print, but you don’t have to.

final thoughts
The larger ANYCUBIC Kobra Max has a 400x400x450mm deck and costs more at $569. The smaller 220x220x250mm Kobra is a powerful printer at $281, but for me the $399 ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus is just right if you’re looking to make some larger prints on a budget, but Will not exceed printer capabilities anytime soon and will have to be upgraded at some point.
If it came with a 0.8mm spare nozzle and a larger capacity spool holder, this would be the perfect setup out of the box, but these little inconveniences in no way detract from the excellent performance and usability of the ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus. If you are interested in 3D printing, or are already a seasoned 3D printing veteran looking to add some color to your quiver, the ANYCUBIC Kobra Plus is worth a look.
