Austrian man was bitten by a python in the toilet

Police said an Austrian man was bitten by a 1.6-meter (5.25-foot) python while going to the toilet early in the morning.

According to a statement from the Styrian Provincial Police, the 65-year-old victim “feeled a bite in the genital area” shortly after passing the toilet in his Graz home at 6am on Monday morning. Then he looked in the toilet and found an albino reticulated python.

The snake apparently escaped from the apartment of the man’s 24-year-old neighbor. It was not immediately possible to figure out how it escaped and how to enter the toilet, but the police said it may have passed through the sewer.

A reptile expert was asked to retrieve the snake, clean it up, and return it to its owner.

According to the police, the young man kept 11 non-venomous boa constrictors and a gecko in his apartment, glass container and drawer. He is facing investigation on suspicion of negligence causing bodily harm.

According to the police, the victim suffered only minor injuries.
