Review – The belt styles of the 80s and 90s, such as dense riveting, nylon and woven leather, can be fixed to almost any length. BeltBuy sent me a men’s leather formal belt with an automatic sliding ratchet buckle. Does this product provide a fully adjustable belt with a modern and stylish feel? Please read on to find out what I think!
what is it?
The BeltBuy men’s leather formal belt with automatic sliding ratchet buckle is a ratchet belt. Most belts have 5 holes, 1 inch apart. Some belts allow you to adjust the length of the belt by removing the buckle and trimming the belt from the side of the belt without holes. The BeltBuy belt can be trimmed to a certain length. There are 31 plastic teeth sewn on the back of the belt, and each tooth is 1/4 inch apart. The belt buckle has a spring ratchet, and when the belt slides over the belt buckle, it gets stuck on the plastic teeth of the belt. The design can be tightened by pulling the belt, and loosened by loosening the ratchet through the thumb lever at the bottom of the buckle.

Unboxing
The actual description of the belt on the merchant DTC website is, “Men’s leather ratchet dress belt, sliding belt with automatic buckle, and men’s gift box.” They kept their promise and provided the following packaging:

The belt and buckle are assembled and wrapped by plastic inside, so they will not wear out during transportation.

design
The waistband is made of soft cowhide, folded and stitched asymmetrically on the back. This design is not as popular as the typical manufacturing of cut, stamped and dyed ends, or stitching two pieces of leather together along the edge. This folding design provides strength at the edges.

The inside is filled with soft elastic material.

One thing I don’t often do is to set my product on fire, but I did it to one of the discarded parts that I cut off when trimming the belt to fit. It smells of burnt hair and emits white smoke. These are signs that the belt is made from animal products. The fake leather has a pungent smell and emits black smoke.
The tip is formed and dyed. The cone is in line with contemporary trends.

The ratchet insert is 3-3/4 inches from the end, including approximately 7 inches of useful ratchet edge.

The buckle is made of zinc alloy. This material helps to ensure a rust-free finish.
There is no indication of how much nickel is contained in the alloy, but since the belt does not often come into contact with the skin, this should not be a factor for most people.
The waistband needs to pass through the pants from the left side, and the end of the waistband needs to face the left side. This is because the belt release device is located on the buckle and needs to face down for aesthetic reasons. The belt release device can be easily pulled out with either the left hand or the right hand.
The design on this special belt is black brushed inlay, surrounded by a chrome frame.

There is a matte stripe in the center of the brush, and a bronze/gold triangle on each side. I think it looks good when worn, but it looks a bit like an airplane belt buckle when not worn.

The buckle part is riveted, so the buckle in front of the waist will not be too long. You can see it in two places in the image below.

surgery
The first thing that may need to be done is to cut the belt to the right length. This belt actually has four sizes: 110 cm, 115 cm, 120 cm and 125 cm. The largest waistband is about 49 1/4 inches long and fits a waist of about 43 inches. If a smaller size is required, the belt can be easily “cut to fit” any size. There is no explanation, but this is the basic procedure I use. I tried on the belt, as you would normally wear, and measured the amount of remaining leather needed on my pants. I removed the belt buckle from the belt. To be sure, I cut the end of the buckle short by the measured amount minus three inches. I saw the belt with a kitchen knife, although a pair of scissors or a utility knife may be equally effective. I refastened the buckle and tried to fasten the belt. It turns out that I did want to remove the extra three inches, so I repeated the procedure above, but I think it’s better to cut it less than I thought, and then repeat it again, instead of ending with a too short belt.
I feel comfortable wearing a belt.

If you pull the belt without opening the release mechanism, it will indeed ratchet. If keeping quiet is important, keep the release device open while pulling the seat belt, and release it after the correct tightness.
which performed
After putting the belt around my teeth, I tried to pull the belt apart. The belt was very strong. The tensile test tests the teeth that fix the cut end of the belt in the buckle, the belt belt, the sewing of the hard rubber ratchet and the belt, and the ratchet mechanism in the belt buckle.

I can’t comment on how this belt performs in terms of storing tools or concealed carrying-after all, this is a formal belt. In addition, since this is a small tool website, I must warn readers in advance that this belt does not have any of the following functions: Bat dart, Batman/Batman/Batclaw/Bat grappling hook, password sequencer, Bolas, display Tracer, smoke grenades, gas grenades, sedative guns, glue balls, lock openers, respirators, lasers, grenades, concussion mines, explosive gels, thermite grenades, napalm, taser guns, remote charging, electric shock projectiles , EMP gun, jammer, remote control claw, ultrasonic bat beacon, sonic destroyer, frozen grenade, or kryptonite.

Final thoughts
There are many manufacturers that produce similar belts with ratchet designs, and I own several other belts like this. The ratchet design of BeltBuy is similar to that of other manufacturers, but the most notable feature of the belt is the belt. I can say that the BeltBuy belt is one of the softest belts I have ever owned. Although the material seems very strong and supportive, it is also very soft. If you are looking for a belt that looks beautiful and guarantees a perfect fit, I suggest you try BeltBuy.
