How free is the field of country music?
Do the audience and the industry have little in common now?
According to this type of John Ritchie, this is indeed the state of the matter.
The star recently appeared on SiriusXM Breibart News Saturday Podcasts comment on the state of the country.
“Industry” him it has started“Yes… I can’t give you a percentage, but we can only say that most are very free.”
“They have been like this for a long time,” the singer said.
He should know.
Many people will definitely know John from his success in Big and Rich. The duo was founded in 2003 and has won ten chart singles, including “No. 1”Lost in this moment. “
But perhaps few people know that Rich was a member of the popular group Lonestar from 1993 to 1998. During this period, he played bass with member Richie McDonald and served as lead singer.
The guy has been around. In his opinion, there is a big difference between the people on the stands and the suits behind the products:
“Interestingly, the industry that introduced country music hasn’t really aligned with a lot of audiences.”
The audience did not leave:
“A lot of people who listen to the country, again, I can’t give you a percentage, but I can tell you that most viewers may tend to be conservative.”
“So you have this gap,” he explained. “For years, the industry has never really stood up…strongly focused on their free advantages…until recently, perhaps in the past 6 to 12 months.”
This will definitely mark a complete transformation.
In 2003, on the European stage, Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines made derogatory remarks against President George Bush.
As a result, country music fans Flattened their CD The radio station refused to play their music.
At that time, the industry Powers That Be did not help the little chickens.
Regarding current artists, John believes that political evolution has not yet occupied this part of the community:
“They are starting to come out more and more. The problem you have is that if you have some conservative artists, but their record companies, their public relations staff, their managers, and many radio stations are all affected by liberals. Supervision.”
“We (conservatives) used to be able to…say what we want to say and still play our music,” he exclaimed, “but this is not the case now.”
They can certainly say a lot before: think of Toby Keith-in the 1990s and 2000s, he was a staunch supporter of conservative patriotic values.
For example, since 2002:
In 2003, Toby had a Well-known discord Chick with Dixie.
At the beginning of this year, he Grant The National Art Medal awarded by President Trump.
As pointed out HillIn 2017, he said: “I will not apologize for performing for our country or the army.”
Is country music destined to have fewer such statements?
Will the person providing it receive the support of the company?
In this regard, Breitbart picked a song:
Ask conservatives as [John] Can beat this awakened left-wing shift in the country music industry, [John] Take Aaron Lewis’ recent patriotic song “I am the only one” as an example to illustrate the gap between the industry and the audience. Despite its soaring rankings and streaming platforms, the industry completely ignored the song that criticized left-wing activists, including those who tore up regulations during the “black life is also life” riots in 2020.
…
“[Aaron’s] Ranked among the best on all these charts, but the country music industry will not support him. The radio will not play him. So what does this tell you? Does this tell you what I am telling you about the position of the industry and that many artists and audiences sit in two different places-is this a correct statement? Yes, this is a correct statement. This is where it is now. “
If in fact there is a “gap”, it is more likely to appear in the next five years: Will the industry indulge the audience, or will the audience come to the industry?
John has hope for conservatism:
“Everyone must stand up with their two feet, and don’t be afraid to express their views on what they see and hear in this country.”
As for Toby Keith, from his recent “Happy birthday, usa,” I would say he is not very optimistic:
Now your children…burn your flags more than anyone on…city streets
Without God’s help, your days are numbered, my old friend.
We will miss you for sure, girl…
Happy birthday, America-what do you have left
