The roof of the Brandenburg swimming pool collapsed shortly before reopening

DAccording to police, the roof of one of Schwerte’s swimming pools “totally collapsed” on Sunday-just a few days before the planned reopening of the refurbished hall. A police spokesperson said that night, an area of about 50 x 70 meters was affected, causing millions of losses. No one was injured. The “Aquarium” in Brandenburg is currently closed due to renovation works. It is scheduled to reopen on Thursday (July 15). The spokesperson said: “We are still very lucky. If it happens on Thursday, someone will die.”

The spokesperson said that fortunately, there was no construction work in progress at the time of the collapse. Therefore, only two people who work in the gourmet restaurant by the swimming pool and provide takeaway sales are on site-they are not harmed.

According to a police spokesperson, the renovation project affected the swimming pool, not the roof. After the collapse, no swimming area can be seen, and the renovation project may be completely outdated.

It said that the reason is still completely unclear. The building is temporarily locked. The investigation into the cause of the collapse will continue on Monday.
