The current former governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, has just mobilized Gavin Newsom by releasing violent felons. Literally, in his last few hours as governor, Cuomo commuted the sentence of David Gilbert, the father of the San Francisco district attorney Chesa Pudding. Gilbert was a member of the notorious Weather Underground and was involved in an armored vehicle robbery that resulted in three deaths. Cuomo also commuted Lawrence Penn, a hawker who stole $9.3 million from investors and spent it on luxury cars, credit card debt, and high-end real estate, as well as Greg Mingo, Robert Ehrenberg, Ulysses Boyd, and Paul Clark.
This happened suddenly, just a few hours before Lieutenant Governor Casey Hochle was sworn in.
From British Daily Mail:
The outgoing Governor of New York State Andrew Cuomo was criticized by the victim group for commuting the sentence of the San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s father for an armored vehicle robbery that killed three people.
On Monday night, Cuomo announced that he would commute his sentence for 76-year-old David Gilbert, 68-year-old Greg Mingo, 62-year-old Robert Ehrenberg, and 66-year-old Ulysses Boye. Germany and 59-year-old Paul Clark.
All five were convicted, and Gilbert-Pudding’s father-the sole murderer was still detained for the fatal hijacking of a Brinks cash truck in 1981, resulting in the deaths of a security guard and two policemen.
Chesa Boudin expressed his joy on Twitter and shared the time he spent with his father before being imprisoned:
My father and I were together in our last precious moment of freedom. pic.twitter.com/ZaOYdn1tx4

You would think that Boudin’s heart would also be sad for the families in his area who were victimized by his rampant crimes as the San Francisco District Attorney. This is why the people of San Francisco tried to recall him.
Lawyer and National Review The author Dan McLaughlin points out that Cuomo’s final scene is completely ignored:
Cuomo expressed leniency to the left-wing Weather Underground terrorist David Gilbert. He was involved in the brutal Brink’s armored car robbery. He is also the father of SF DA Chesa Boudin. This is a great deal for New York law enforcement and every respectable New Yorker. Huge middle finger. https://t.co/zsD5ECP5bg

The Rockland officials where Gilbert committed the crime were not too happy either.
But the leniency met with strong opposition from Rockland elected officials and the families of the victims.
The Rockland County Patrol Officers’ Charity Association opposed the previous leniency of Gilbert.
State Assemblyman Michael Lawler said that the sentence reduction was “a disgusting betrayal to the people of Rockland County, the families of Peter Page, Edward O’Grady and Waverly Brown, and law enforcement officials everywhere.”
This October will be the 40th anniversary of the Brink robbery in 1981, with Gilbert and his wife Kathy Boudin involved.
Casey Pudding shot and killed two policemen and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but was released in 2003.
Cuomo’s sentence reduction means that Gilbert’s 75-year sentence has been reduced to 40 years. He is now referred to the Parole Board, so he can be considered for release.
In explaining the decision to pardon Gilbert, Cuomo said that his conviction was “related to the incident in which he was a driver and not a murderer.
That was the pinnacle of Cuomo: any excuse to justify his actions. This is a far cry from the terrible comments he made when facing the consequences of an executive order to send COVID-positive patients to elderly and assisted care homes. This action resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly people, including the in-laws of Fox News meteorologists Janice Dean.
“who cares [if they] Died in the hospital, died in the nursing home? They are dead,” Cuomo said.
Another final, merciless act committed by Cuomo today was to leave him Dog behind In the Governor’s Mansion.
As the saying goes: “Don’t let the doorknob hit you when you go out.”
