Decibullz works fine for me. They work well for loud bars and live music. They are not as discrete as clear silicone earbuds, but are easier to insert and remove.

It’s hardly a consumer tech product, but as I got older I started getting tinnitus and got more worried hearing loss future life. In your 20s, you don’t really care about rowdy bars and clubs, but I can assure you, you won’t feel the same way later in life.
Aside from worrying about my hearing, I slept soundly and woke up with minimal noise.

I’ve bought a variety of well-reviewed earbuds on Amazon, the last one being the EarPeace Concert Earbuds.
They work well, the transparent silicon is fairly discrete, and they have a filter inside them. You can then filter out different levels of noise, which is perfect for bars and clubs as you can reduce unwanted noise while still (almost) hearing people.
However, my biggest problem with them is when you try to get them out, the panic settles down. This is amplified when I’m drunk. You can get earplugs with cords, which is what I should get.
So the main attraction of the Decibullz to me is that the molded design means they never get lost in my ear canal (unless the earbuds come off).
This shouldn’t be Decibullz’s selling point, but it’s for me.
What these actually do is provide superior noise reduction thanks to them being molded into your ear concha, which improves the fit.
These claim to deliver 31dB of noise reduction, but that’s when you use foam tips instead of silicon. They don’t seem to provide performance data for the silicon tip.
In comparison, EarPeace I offers 17, 20, and 26dB of cancellation, depending on the filter. Decibels are logarithmic, so 31dB is significantly higher than 26dB. The downside is that Decibullz doesn’t have filters, so they’re not really designed for music/bars where you might be talking to people.
Molding
The molding process is very simple and there is a YouTube video to guide you. Basically, you attach the silicone eartips to the earbuds and put them in a glass of boiling water for a few minutes. When you take it out, wait for it to cool, insert the eartip into your ear and shape it so that it fits securely inside your outer ear (ear cup).
If you don’t get exactly the right fit, you can redo the process.
Performance in noisy environments
I mostly use it with silicone tips that are mostly used in bars and live bands. They worked great, did exactly what I wanted, made the noise bearable and avoided tinnitus the next day.
I’d say they’re easier to plug in than standard silicon plugs, and the molded design means I’m not going to hunt around for the best fit.
I wouldn’t say the performance feels much better than the cheaper moldless silicon tip. However, it makes sense logically that these would provide better protection in louder environments.
Best of all, I didn’t have that panicky feeling when I was drunk and struggling to get my earbuds back.
I had hoped that the hard plastic caps would remove them easily, but I found it difficult to grab. However, with the molded shape, it’s easy to push your outer armor back a little and grab it from the molded part.
use while sleeping
i tried these sleep earplugs and got good results. The main problem you have is that the cover and mount for the silicon plug is a hard plastic. If you are a side sleeper, sleeping on it can be uncomfortable.
I ended up using just one plug and the pillow provided adequate noise cancellation.
What’s more, I’m not worried that I might roll on the earbud and push it too far into my ear!
Price and Alternatives
Decibullz are available from Amazon for £30 and they seem to be the best rated earbuds on Amazon. They are also one of the most expensive.

Loop Experience looks good because they have a nice big loop that sticks out of your ear for easy removal and the loop itself has a hole with a filter to let some sound through so you can still experience the music/ say. These only offer 18dB of noise reduction, or you can get 27dB of Loop Quiet.
If you don’t mind the disposable nature and ugly appearance, foam plugs are a great option. You can get 60 pairs for just $10, and they offer a massive 38dB of noise reduction.

Decibullz works fine for me. They work well for loud bars and live music. They are not as discrete as clear silicone earbuds, but are easier to insert and remove.
You can’t put a price on hearing, and if you’re constantly exposing yourself to loud environments, you should definitely buy a good pair of earbuds, no matter the price.
