Eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera Review – Best Doorbell Cameras of 2022

I like most of the Eufy Security products I’ve reviewed over the past few years.I was first impressed with it EufyCam 2Cit outperforms competing brands with spotlight and color video and excellent battery life.

Recently, I also Eufy Security Floodlight Camera 2 Pro, is the first spotlight camera to use a PTZ camera for 360° coverage. It’s an expensive kit, but shows that Eufy can make innovative high-priced products.

The Eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera is their latest high-end technology that integrates two cameras with a package specifically designed to monitor floors. With all companies using contactless delivery over the past few years, this feature has become increasingly important to help reduce lost or stolen packages and alert us if we need to collect things from outside.

Setup and Installation

I am already using HomeBase Eufy Security Floodlight Camera 2 Proso I just had to go into the app and add a new device and scan the QR code on the back of the camera.

You need to press the sync button on the camera and then display the QR code it generates onto the camera lens.

The Eufy app will then guide you through various settings and functions.

when i replaced mine Ring Video Doorbell 4 And there are also screw holes from previous Eufy doorbells, so the physical installation was easy, I just screwed it into place.

Due to the design of my knocker, the doorbell is mounted on the side of the door. So I use an angled mount to help it point slightly outwards. The angle of the wedge is shallow so it doesn’t make much of an impact, and my placement wasn’t optimal, but I still had decent results with all the doorbells I’ve used here.

Amazon Echo / Google Home Chime

Just as I used Amazon Alexa to set up Eufy before, when I installed the doorbell, the Alexa app instantly recognized the device and allowed me to set motion alerts.

Assuming you haven’t done this before, here are the steps:

1. Enable the eufy security skill on your Alexa app.
2. Link your eufy security account to Alexa.
3. Discover new devices.
4. Find Video Doorbell Dual and enable Doorbell Announcement.

It’s supposed to be similar to Google, but doesn’t support the Google Home Mini.

set up

This camera has a ton of settings. More than any other doorbell camera I’ve tested.

This list is not exhaustive, but options include:

• Dual detection motion settings, including human only, all motion, detection sensitivity, active area, self-learning detection, and loitering detection.
• Delivery Guard with package protection, uncollected package alerts and real-time package inspection assistance.
• How dual camera setups show dual views
• Power Manager optimizes battery life, you can have the best battery, balance and best monitoring
• Familiar faces of up to 10 faces can be registered. You can add this manually from a photo or a face captured by the camera. Then you can classify the faces.
• Ring Auto Assist allows you to set a default auto-reply when someone rings the doorbell. Like, please put it at the door or we’ll be right there.
• Video settings for quality, etc.
• Audio settings for two-way talk and ringer volume
• Notification settings, including ringtones and actions, you can have it, so you can get basic notifications and thumbnail notifications.
• Set up quick response
• Configure ringtones

Motion, person and package detection

This doorbell has radar and PIR motion sensor.

Other doorbells on the market only have one sensor for object detection. The Video Doorbell Dual combines the benefits of thermal and sonic sensing to reduce false alarms by 95%.

For me, motion detection has been perfect. I’ve found that most doorbells have excellent performance due to the doorbell location and large fences.

HomeBase’s doorbell signal quality is good, and with Ring I’ve been having trouble getting a good signal. This helps deliver timely notifications on HomeBase and Alexa devices.

I have full notifications enabled and it does send you some spam. You’ll get a text notification first, followed by a thumbnail notification (if available).

For even-numbered histories, each is even marked with different information. So, for example, when Parcelforce ships a robot vacuum for me, it registers the doorbell ringing, indicating that the package has been delivered and that I’ve picked it up. There are also small thumbnails of delivery drivers and packages. Due to the nature of my day job and receiving packages, this is a very useful feature as it is easy to accurately calculate what has been delivered and whether it has been left on my doorstep.

Eufy now has a familiar face feature that recognizes people. Netatmo is the only company I know of that does this. For Eufy, this feature doesn’t seem to be used very well at the moment. It seems to be used only to improve the quality of the human detection function, nothing more. I would assume or hope that at some point this could be used to disable notifications for family members, or maybe tell you who’s at the door (like a regular delivery driver).

Interestingly, when you export a video clip, the Eufy app automatically joins the two separate feeds together, giving you a portrait-style video.

Video quality is very good, like with a normal 2K camera.

Night shots are also great. In my case, I have bright street lights, and a security camera with a built-in spotlight. With the spotlight switched on and off live, there is still a good overall night shot with color video.

Battery

I haven’t had enough time to test the battery thoroughly, but so far it’s been pretty good.

It looks like the battery is dropping about 1 percent per day, which is good for three months. I set it to balance battery usage and I usually have more than 10 alarms per day.

I change my Ring Video Doorbell 4’s battery more often than that.

The downside is that, unlike the Ring, you need to physically remove and charge the doorbell, not replace the battery.

Price and Alternatives

Eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera Now Available £229 from eufylife.com and Amazon. Amazon has stock, but Eufy Life ships in June.

The Eufy Security Video Doorbell 2K with HomeBase is currently £148, or £120 with the ringtone (use the £30 discount coupon on the page).

The Ring Video Doorbell 4 is currently £175 and the Doorbell 3 is £160.

This Arlo Essential Wireless Video Doorbell With a suggested retail price of £180, but only £100 at the time of writing, it’s an amazing deal.

As always, Eufy stores its videos on HomeBase, and there are no ongoing charges. Ring costs £24.99/year for a single device, while Arlo costs £2.79/month for a single camera.

comprehensive

The Eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual Camera is by far the best doorbell camera I’ve used, but it’s also the most expensive.

For me, it’s well worth it. The main reason I wanted a video doorbell a few years ago was the number of packages I received. While I’ve never had a problem with a stolen package, it made my life easier knowing exactly what was delivered and when.

I should note that both Ring and Arlo do package detection, and the 180-degree view camera on the Arlo Essential Video Doorbell gives you a similar level of functionality. I prefer the performance of Eufy, but the current upfront price is more than double.
