review – Are you going to an outdoor concert or festival this summer? Go camping? Or even want to have a picnic or a day at the beach? Instead of lugging folding chairs around on adventures, inflatables are becoming a popular alternative. If you’re looking for a reclining chair that’s lighter and smaller than a foldable chair, yet inflates to the size of a double bed, consider the FLEXAILGEAR One-Touch Self-Inflating Lounge.

What is it?

This is not an air bed, nor is it a chair. The FLEXAILGEAR one-touch self-inflating lounge is somewhere in between, letting you lay your head up. Embedded pump and USB port are built into the design and come with a carrying case.

What’s in the box?

  • storage bag
  • User Manual
  • Charging Cable
  • 2 patches

Design and Features

set up

One of my favorite things about the FLEXAILGEAR one-touch self-inflating lounge is how easy it is to set up. Just make sure you have a flat surface large enough for a single bed. If you’re outdoors, you’ll want to avoid pebbles, branches, or anything that could scratch or puncture your recliner.

The air pump is small and simple. You open the seal first. Then you click the orange button to inflate. (The orange button glows red in the dark and is a nice touch). When it’s fully inflated (it takes about a minute and a half), you turn and close the sealing cap, then click the orange button again to stop it.

It’s really light and easy to move around, even when it’s inflated. But it’s also a caveat, because if you’re outdoors and not sitting on it, be aware of high winds that can make it sail. While the size makes it a little awkward to manage when inflating, the side handles give you something to grab onto.

Performance

On the pump, next to the sealed port button, another circle that looks like a gray button is actually a flip for the charging port. There is a USB-A output port and a micro USB input port. That way you can charge your device while you’re hanging out. This is also where you connect the included cable to charge the pump.

We never had to charge the pump for this review as it lasted about 30 full fills before needing a charge. A red light will light up to indicate a low battery; it will also light up while you’re charging and turn green when charging is complete. Note that the charging cable that comes with it is pretty short, only about 10 inches, and we wish it was longer. According to the manual, it takes about 4 hours to fully charge the pump.

Overall, I found this FLEXAILGEAR one-touch self-inflating lounge quite comfortable. My husband and son seem to like it more than I do. It’s really a matter of personal preference. Due to the height and design, I found it to be more unstable than I would like, which made it hard for me to relax. However, I was eventually able to snooze on it, so it might just be a matter of getting used to it. My husband has back issues and is comfortable lying on it and watching the whole movie. Young people, like my sons and their friends, can sleep on it all night, but I don’t think my 40-something body would like that.

In the picture you can see my son’s feet hanging over the edge of the Flextail Gear inflatable comfort recliner. He’s about 5’10”, so be careful if you’re tall. It also has a weight limit of 330 pounds.

I predict we’ll use it most often when we’re watching a movie on a projector in our backyard. It’s definitely making an appearance at my kids’ sleepovers and cousins’ visits. The FLEXTAILGEAR one-touch self-inflating lounge is easier to inflate than any air mattress I’ve ever owned, and it’s also lighter (4.4 pounds) and more compact.

It takes about 3 minutes to deflate and pack. You just need to loosen the sealing cap. I sat on the recliner for about a minute and then folded it up. It’s a lot like stuffing a sleeping bag or tent into a suitcase, which is always a bit of a challenge for me. But I pack it myself in 3 minutes, so it’s not bad at all.

Helpful Tip: Pack the pump towards the top for easy charging while packing.

The carrying case is also lightweight and has adjustment options, making it practical and easy to carry around.

They also threw in two patches, just in case. We didn’t have any punctures or anything like that even though my dog jumped on the recliner a few times.

what do I like

  • Simple and fast setup
  • Lightweight and compact

what would i change

final thoughts

Easy to use, fast, and lightweight, the FLEXTAILGEAR One Touch Self-Inflating Lounge is a practical choice for travel, outdoor adventures, or close to home.
