we already know Garmin Forerunner 955 and FR255 It’s due to launch in early June, but it’s increasingly likely that the Garmin Edge 1040 will also launch around then. Or at least in the near future.
recent, 5krunner They were quick enough to get some leaked information from the Garmin forum before they retracted the post.
This information includes product briefs and photos, similar to the retail listings we obtained with the FR955.
If all of the following are accurate, the upgrade seems to be fairly gradual. Garmin integrates with our most recent watches like the Fenix 7 and Epix Gen 2.
This includes:
- Significantly increased battery life, up to 70 hours in battery saver mode
- Improved navigation with the help of new multi-band GNSS capabilities.
- In general, the mapping should be improved thanks to the heatmap
- The Endurance feature we saw on Fenix 7/Epix
I’m also assuming it’s not USB-C, which some would no doubt consider the most important upgrade.
It is also thought that there may be a solar model that can extend the battery to 100 hours. Due to the size of the units, it seems reasonable for them to integrate solar energy compared to watches.
