Garmin Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 255 Two of Garmin’s most anticipated products.
A sort of Reddit user Claimed to have been to a store in Germany and managed to see an early email to the retailer detailing the new watch.
The Garmin Forerunner 955 will be the top of the line of multi-sport watches, a popular choice for triathletes and runners due to its lightweight design compared to the Garmin Fenix 7.
The previous Forerunner 945 launched in 2019, and the Fenix 6 Pro a year later. The functions of the two watches are almost identical. The Fenix 7 has more storage, a heavier, sturdier design, and some extra golf features. Later it launched a solar model.
This time, Phoenix 7 It’s been rolled out, and it’s likely that things will be similar.
The Forerunner 255 is better for runners or an affordable multi-sport watch.
Garmin Forerunner 955 Features
For now, it’s all just rumors, but you can expect the FR955 to be very similar to the Fenix 7.
- Garmin Forerunner 955 will use newly upgraded Elevate Gen 4 optical HR sensor and GPS sensor (multiband still unknown)
- It will also feature real-time stamina, race time trend predictors and sleep scores
- FR955 will now have solar model option
- Running power from an external device
- morning paper
- This is expected to maintain the normal transflective pixel memory display. There’s nothing to say about the touchscreen.
Garmin Forerunner 255 Features
- Upgraded heart rate sensor and GPS
- It is believed that the Forerunner 255 will be upgraded to a barometric altimeter, which will help increase running power.
- There should be a new smaller Forerunner 255s
- Running power from an external device
- morning paper
Running power
A rumored feature of both watches is running power. However, it is believed that this will be done through an external device.
However, Garmin already has basic running abilities when using the Garmin Running Power app with the Garmin Heart Belt with running power. Then there’s Stryd with its own app.
They might flesh out this feature more, or just integrate it natively into running dynamics. Or the Reddit user who reported it might be confused.
Currently, FR245 is not officially supported Garmin Running Power App, This is probably what the user meant.
This is one of the areas where Garmin is lagging behind. Running has been built into Polar’s watches for a while now, including the new Polar Pacer Pro.
Presumably Garmin is trying to refine this metric, but as others have said, being forced to use an external device could be a money grab.
morning paper
A new morning report is believed to be on both watches. I think this is what Garmin Lily is coming out with and it will give you a daily summary and show useful information every morning including:
- daily greeting
- weather
- body battery
- Step goal and step count
- Women’s Health Tracking (if enabled)
- calendar
