Design and Features

The Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard room air purifier is available in two sizes, the room size sent to me for review and the professional size. The Room model is designed to cover an area of 375 square feet, and the Pro model covers an area of 1375 square feet.
Both units come in a white and charcoal-colored plastic case with no flashy branding or logos on it. The Room version is 10.6″ x 10.6″ x 17.5″, so it won’t be too big or too small.

The unit’s top surface has a large touch control panel surrounded by vented heatsinks. I’ll discuss the touch interface in detail below.

The unit has a nifty handle on the back that makes it easy to move from room to room. There is also an included power cord.

There’s a button on the back that turns the device on to access the filters.

The top of the Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with the ODOGard room air purifier, all the electronics and fans are on the bottom of the unit.

Here is a view of the bottom of the Greentech pureAir where you can see the two replaceable filters. The large round filter is the HEPA filter and the center filter is the PCO unit.

The smaller PCO unit rises from the center of the unit. What are PCO cells? Green Tech says:
Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) uses UV energy as a catalyst to convert airborne moisture into active purification products.

The larger circular HEPA filter can also be removed and replaced. Yes, I know what you may be thinking… How much does it cost to replace the filter of this air purifier? How often does it need to be replaced? In most cases, HEPA filters need to be replaced annually for $89. The PCO Cell should also be replaced annually for $129. The device itself is warranted for 10 years.
Other consumables are BPI module brushes (not shown). Luckily, if you sign up for your device’s warranty, you’ll receive these brushes for free every year for a 10-year warranty.

When you plug in the Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard Room air purifier and tap the power button on the touch interface, it will turn on in fan mode. Pressing the fan speed button (fan icon) will cycle through 5 fan speeds (low, medium-low, medium, medium-high, high).

Pressing the AUTO button will switch to automatic air cleaning mode. The display shows air quality in large fonts and a bright LED behind it. If the air quality is good, you will see GOOD on the display and the LED will turn green, if the air quality is poor it will turn to FAIR and yellow, or POOR and red.
Pressing the gear button toggles various stats including temperature showing current room temperature, humidity, filter life – % remaining, PCO battery life – % remaining and BPI module life – % remaining.

At one point, my review unit reported good air quality in the room. At that point, the fans speed up for a short period of time, and then the air quality goes back to good. I haven’t seen it turn bad/red.
Green technology application
Another feature of this air purifier is the ability to control it via an app. There’s no need to use the GreenTech app, but it does offer some extra features, such as the ability to schedule the device to toggle sleep mode, which causes the control panel and LEDs to dim.
The app also allows you to view the status of HEPA filters, PCO units and BPI modules.
what do I like
- easy to use
- quiet
- The air smells visibly fresh
- The app allows to schedule sleep mode
what would i change
- Aside from the unit price and having to buy a replacement filter, this is a very good air purifier
final thoughts
GreenTech PureAir Room air purifiers are designed to reduce VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), allergens like pollen and pet dander, and odors caused by mold, bacteria and other pollutants. It has even been shown to inactivate 99.98% of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) in the air. I can’t really test these claims, but I can say that I’ve noticed it removes cooking smells faster than other air purifiers I’ve used in the past. The air also smells noticeably fresh while running, and it’s quieter than my previous air purifiers. If you can beat the price of the equipment and consumables, I think this is one of the best air purifiers I’ve reviewed so far.
