The Greenworks Angle Grinder is a 24V cordless unit with a brushless motor that spins 4-1/2″ tools to 10500 RPM. I have one to review. Read on to see what I think!

This orientation allows the operator to precisely control the reactive torque produced by the tool when the abrasive disc is in contact with the workpiece. The tool is powered by a 24V battery, which provides higher torque output than lower voltage tools at a lower price than higher voltage tools. Unboxing
The Greenworks 24V angle grinder is packaged in a green corrugated box with full color pictures of the tools on three sides and a full color collage of tools belonging to the 24V battery system on one end of the box.
Inside the box are tools and components. Each item is individually packaged in a plastic bag.
set up
The Greenworks 24V angle grinder has very few settings. All that is required is to charge the battery, install the debris guard, and install the grinding, cutting or polishing tool. The ring of the debris guard has a tab that fits over the shaft and fits into three grooves on the shaft. This allows the debris guard to remain in place. The guard’s position can be changed quickly thanks to the quick-release cam on the bolt that holds it in place. The protective cover is a wearing part. Eventually, the bounce of the metal and abrasive thins the metal of the guard.I don’t see a replacement from Greenworks, but the shield seems to be designed to be similar to DeWalt 643772-00.
The attachment is held in place by a 5/8-11 metal locknut similar to many other tools (Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Bosch, Black & Decker, and Ryobi). The nut must be tightened with an adjustable wrench, otherwise the tool will slow down and the nut will loosen. A spindle lock button on the rear of the head makes changing wheels easy. The lock doesn’t have as many snap points as the Dremel tool, so locking the wheel may require you to manually rotate the wheel a few times.
Judging by the front LEDs, the battery capacity is 10% to 20%. 3 green LEDs indicate 80% to 100% battery capacity. 2 green LEDs indicate 50% to 80% battery capacity. 1 green LED indicates 20% to 50% battery capacity. 1 flashing green LED indicates 10% to 20% battery capacity. If no LED is lit, the battery is less than 10% charged and needs to be charged immediately. The LED will illuminate if the test button next to the LED is pressed or the tool is started. The battery does not have a USB port for charging USB devices like some Greenworks batteries.

With the battery installed, the tool is well balanced in the hand. The tool is designed to be completely symmetrical along its length, so right- or left-handed people can use it equally well. The grip is a rubberized plastic that helps prevent the tool from slipping out of a gloved hand. The grip is approximately 5 1/2 inches, so it fits a variety of hand sizes. The finger space allowed under the switch is 3 1/2 inches wide, so most common hand sizes can comfortably hold the tool.
Push up with your thumb to activate the power button. The tool only spins at one speed, so you can’t use it to create grooves while cutting or polish at a lower speed. The power button also has a lock at the top of its range, but it’s difficult to hold it in place with just one hand. Once the power lock is in place, it can be easily unlocked with just one hand.
The handle attachment can be mounted on either side of the tool for grinding, but there is no center mount, which for me is the most comfortable position for cutting jobs.
The tool comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Operation and Performance
The tool is easy to use for cutting or grinding. The motor maintains high speed even when working on workpieces with large surface areas. I haven’t personally tested battery life, but the manufacturer says the 4Ah battery lasts for 30 minutes and takes about 90 minutes to charge.
