London crime: Man was chopped to face in Hackney’s daytime attack

The man was seriously injured after Hackney was slashed across the face with a knife.

The man was attacked just after 11 am on July 30 when his moped stopped at a set of traffic lights.

Another man followed behind the victim, who stopped next to him and followed him up Street and Nazrul Street.

Two riders who knew each other dismounted and started quarreling.

The second man then attacked the victim with a knife.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment and later discharged.

The police arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of serious bodily harm and threatened to kill. He has since been released on bail.

But officials are still eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, especially anyone who might have footage of the incident.

Detective Sebastian Marce said: “The attack happened at noon. Both the driver and pedestrians saw what happened. We will urge them to come forward and talk to us or the fight crime hotline as soon as possible.

“In this case, the victim was seriously injured, but fortunately not suffered more serious injuries. We are committed to taking dangerous weapons — and those who carry them — away from our streets, but we need the help of the public Come to do this.”
