This morning, MediaTek issued a press release announcing the launch of Dimensity 9000 (we already know) and some smartphone brands that will use the new chipset.

Interestingly, there is no mention of Realme or OnePlus, but these belong to the corporate group of BBK Electronics, which also owns OPPO and Vivo.
Looking back at 2021, you might argue MediaTek Dimensity 1200 The chipset is the best chipset (or SD870) of the year. It strikes a good balance between processing power, battery efficiency, and cost.
However, we only launched two phones with Dimensity 1200 in the UK, Xiaomi 11T and OnePlus North 2 (This can easily appear in my top 3 phones this year).If I pretend that we are still in the EU, then you can also include Realme GT Explorer.
However, MediaTek seems to be actively expanding. A few years ago, they did not have a chipset that could compete with Qualcomm’s high-end chips. In 2019, the Western market did not launch any mobile phones of Dimensity 1000. In 2021, we saw 3 mobile phones and more phones based on size in general.
For 2022, this is the first time I know that MediaTek will have a chipset that can compete with Qualcomm and Samsung. MediaTek Dimensity 9000 may even be better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. I won’t hold my breath, but it will definitely be a close match.
Recently, the AI performance of Dimensity 9000 has a loophole, and its score is Google tensor, And Tensor is a chipset specially developed for Google for its AI performance.
Therefore, MediaTek looks good in 2022. We only hope that we can see more phones launched in the UK and earlier this year.

MediaTek today launched the Dimensity 9000 5G smartphone chip for next-generation flagship smartphones, and announced that device manufacturers have adopted and received recognition from some of the world’s largest smartphone brands, including OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Honor. The first batch of flagship smartphones equipped with Dimensity 9000 will be launched in the first quarter of next year.
Dimensity 9000 is the world’s first smartphone based on the ultra-efficient TMSC N4 (4 nanometer level) production process, and it is an industry leader in computing performance, gaming, imaging, multimedia and connectivity innovation.

Dimensity 9000 integrates the cutting-edge Armv9 CPU architecture, bringing a true flagship experience. The eight-core CPU has a super Cortex-X2 core with a running frequency of up to 3.05GHz, three high-performance A710 cores with a running frequency of up to 2.85GHz, and four efficient Cortex-A510 cores. Dimensity 9000 integrated LPDDR5X supports up to 7500Mbps, is equipped with 8MB L3 cache and 6MB system cache, designed to meet the massive bandwidth needs of the mobile market.
In addition, the chipset integrates MediaTek’s fifth-generation application processor unit (APU 5.0). Compared with the previous generation APU, its energy efficiency is increased by 4 times, achieving an ideal balance of performance and energy efficiency, and is suitable for various AI multimedia , Games, cameras and video experience.
Dimensity 9000 is equipped with the world’s first Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU in the smartphone chip. In order to further improve performance, the chipset integrates MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0, which is MediaTek’s fifth-generation innovative gaming technology. HyperEngine 5.0 uses AI acceleration to optimize graphics while reducing GPU load, resulting in a faster gaming experience, better-looking and more energy-efficient than ever.
HyperEngine also integrates AI-VRS, which is the first AI-enhanced variable rate shading technology for smartphones, and the industry’s first ray tracing software development kit (SDK) using Vulkan for Android.
