This year, the mid-range segment has become very interesting. This part of the market has improved a lot in recent years, especially when it comes to chipsets and displays.
Lately, we’ve started to see more focus on camera performance. You can now pick up a mid-range phone with great processing power that’s great for taking pictures. For most people, there’s little need to choose a flagship device anymore.
The Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro was recently released globally and is basically the same as the Indian version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+.
They use mid-range 5G Qualcomm Snapdragon 695with a large AMOLED display and a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 main camera.
then you have Real Me 9 Pro+ It uses a Dimensity 920 6.4-inch AMOLED display and a 50MP Sony IMX766 camera sensor.
I haven’t reviewed the Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro, but I’m impressed with the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 realme 8 proI was also impressed with the camera quality of the Realme 9 Pro+.
But what about the chipsets of these two phones? I would say they are positioned the same in the market and have similar specs. In recent years, we’ve seen MediaTek become more competitive with Qualcomm, and they may have a better chipset lineup this year.

The specification doesn’t have much to go on. They both use the same manufacturing process and have the same basic CPU design. MediaTek’s frequency is indeed significantly higher, with a difference of 13.6% for the A78 core and 17.6% for the A55 core.
MediaTek Dimensity 920 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 benchmark
I have run it myself Benchmarks of MediaTek Dimensity 920 Using Realme 9 Pro+. For the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, I pulled data from various sources, but tried to stick to official figures, such as those reported by 3Dmark themselves.

Qualcomm achieved admirable scores among mid-range chipsets, but MediaTek was well ahead at 15% and set the trend for the rest of the comparison.

The single-core score shows an 18% advantage for MediaTek, which is better than expected considering the 13.6% frequency difference.
In terms of multi-core, Dimensity 920 leads by 12.5%.

When it comes to gaming, things look a lot worse for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. MediaTek chipsets lead by 91%.

While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 is a decent chipset, it can’t compete with the MediaTek Dimensity 920.
In particular, the GPU gap is quite large. For general use, you probably won’t notice a difference, but if you play any games or use any GPU-intensive applications, the SD695 won’t be your best choice.
