Pocketalk S can translate speech and text very well and accurately. Its small size, easy-to-access translation functions and 2 years of free translation data make it an attractive option for using Google Translate.
Since I will be more likely to travel abroad next year, having a device like the Pocketalk S voice translator can relieve a lot of stress abroad.

Hardware and functions
Similar to other translation devices, this is essentially a small, low-power Android device. It uses a custom operating system based on Android OS 8.1, and the device runs an ARM Cortex 53 quad-core 1.3GHz processor.
It includes a built-in SIM card for free use of data for two years worldwide, which is one of the main reasons you might want to use this translator compared to Google Translate on your phone.
Pocketalk S can translate 82 different languages. Similar to other translators, this number is filled with regional dialects. There are four variants of Spanish and six variants of English. English options include the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia. Langogo Genesis claims to have 105 languages, but they fill in the numbers with 20 different versions of Spanish.
Ironically, there are some special menu items in the settings, as if they are poorly translated. The mobile phone comes with 2 years of free translation, you can expand it under “Communication plan”, and you can choose “Extend from the body” to expand the plan on your device. The cost of extending the program is $50 per year. Or, you can use your own SIM card.
Pocketalk S voice translator and Google translation performance
When Google Translate existed, many people might question whether pocket translation was needed. For ordinary English tourists like me, this is a valid question. I don’t go abroad often (of course not recently). When I go abroad, it is often a city where many residents speak English as a second language.
For people who travel a lot and deviate from the norm, or if English is not your native language, the translation starts to look more attractive.
If you often need translation, Pocketalk S is immediately more attractive than your mobile phone. You take it out, press and hold the translate button and get the translation immediately.
I did find that Pocketalk S is not suitable for my northern drag. When I tried to ask for a large glass of beer the first few times, the translation thought I wanted a bear and then a pear. However, many attempts since then have worked. I think the translator is sitting on the table in my kitchen, and the poor kitchen acoustics make me a little confused. Keeping it seems to provide better performance, but if you are like me, you may need to put in some effort to pronounce it correctly.
Translators will perform on-site translation, including text and spoken language. Then from the menu options, you can also add the translation to your favorites. You also have an option to practice pronunciation to help you try your own pronunciation. As I work hard to pronounce my own language correctly, trying other languages is predictably disastrous.
When comparing with Google Translate, I found that my accent is a bit more accurate, but I used a new one Pixel 6, It should have advanced artificial intelligence functions, so its performance may be better than other mobile phones. The translation is not read automatically, and the spoken translation does not sound natural. Switching Google to conversation mode does make my phone read the translation immediately. I also found that Google Translate’s image translation is more difficult to use and less accurate than Pocketalk S.
Since Brexit, many mobile operators have reintroduced roaming charges, so Pocketalk S has a significant advantage over your mobile phone in terms of ongoing costs.
Other features-text translation and hands-free
Like other translation devices, further into the settings, you have many additional functions. Most of them are relatively useless, such as medals and rolling games, but you can also convert currency units and have hands-free real-time translation options.
For the hands-free option, you need to connect to WiFi, which I think is due to the need to increase data.
Then there is an 8MP camera. At first, I thought this was a meaningless addition to low-quality images. However, I was wrong. The camera is used to translate text. This is also very effective. Go to the Amazon.es page of Pocketalk S and take a photo of the product details. It can recognize the text and translate it accurately. The translation took a few seconds to complete, but it was impressive. It overlays the translated text on the image, which may make reading difficult, especially on such a small screen, but if you are viewing content such as menus, this is a useful way to display it.

this Lango Genesis It is currently £229.99, or £299.99 for the newer Langogo Summit. I did like it when I checked Langogo Genesis, but I no longer own it and cannot objectively say how good the performance is compared to Pocketalk.
Timekettle has a different view on translation. They are earplugs that provide real-time translation.They are cheaper, and Time Kettle WT2 Only £159.99. Amazon reviews are not very positive, I prefer the handheld formats of Pocketalk and Langogo.
