Review – Gadgets bring troubles to charging. I pay a lot of attention to convenience and minimalism, so when I was invited to review the RapidX Modula5 expandable wireless charging system, it ticked both boxes and I said “get me the bait”. Let’s see.
what is it?
RapidX Modula5 expandable Wireless charging A system that supports Qi-enabled gadgets such as smartphones, TWS earplugs, and Apple Watch.
What’s in the box?
(Bundled with A system)
- 2 phone boxes
- 5-foot USB-C cable
- 30W AC adapter
- User manual
(Single watch box)
Design and features
The RapidX Modula5 wireless charging system is a collection of square wireless charging (Qi) mobile phone holders and Apple Watch holders. The pods are made of black plastic with a soft coating.
Each pod has a set of male and female magnetic contacts on both edges.
Put up to 5 pods together and they will snap together to form a row of chargers.
Each pod has rubber feet on the bottom to prevent it from sliding on your desk or counter.
Each pod also has a USB-C port. When connected magnetically, you only need to use a single cable to power the RapidX Modula5 wireless charging system.
In addition to regular wireless charging pads that can charge smart phones and other gadgets or Apple AirPods Pro earplugs and other earplugs, RapidX also provides Apple Watch charger Modula5 pod.
One of the great things about the RapidX Module5 watch box is that you don’t have to use your existing Apple Watch charger with it, because it comes with a built-in charger.
The charger pops out of the watch box, allowing you to easily position your Apple Watch in the correct position for charging.
In the picture above, you will see 2 cell phone pods and a watch pod. Please note that if you use more than 3 pods, you need to use a 65W power adapter for the best experience. RapidX sells a 65W charger for $34.99, but a 30W adapter is included.
I have been using phone cases and watch cases on my bedside table to charge iPhone 12 Pro Max and Apple Watch Series 6. I also tested the 10W Qi certified phone case with other phones (Huawei P30 Pro shown in the picture above). I don’t have to bother to find the best place to charge each device, because it can be found almost everywhere.
You will notice that when the device is connected to the charging dock, a green LED will glow. This LED is very bright, and it does illuminate my bedroom better than I like. At some point, I might put a piece of tape on it to cover it.
what do I like
- Connect up to 5 pods with just one power cord
- The watch box has a built-in charger, so you don’t have to use the original charger
What will i change
- Single watch and phone case do not include power adapter
Apart from the bright status LED, I like everything about the RapidX Modula5 wireless charging system. This is a more elegant/minimal way to charge multiple devices compared to plugging a separate cable into a computer or wall outlet. I now have a phone bay/watch bay combination on our kitchen counter and one on my bedside table. I can even imagine taking this setting with me on vacation to create a charging station that only requires a cable.
