For a better family, mothers take on different roles. They act as caregivers, housewives, counselors, educators and more. Mothers should be recognized throughout the year for all they do to improve the lives of their loved ones.
The Modern Family Project: Media Briefing on Mothers’ Progressive Role in Sustaining Healthy Families is organized by Reckitt Pinas in honor of Mother’s Day and in support of Modern Moms across the country. It will be held at the Reckitt Pinas office in Makati on May 10, 2023. The moms, two licensed dietitians and dietitians, and a pediatrician who are experts in health, hygiene, and nutrition were on hand.
shared experience
According to Ms. Imelda de Guzman, a registered dietitian at the Makati Health Department’s Nutrition Division, health is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not just the absence of disease.” In her In his speech, de Guzman highlighted several tips for preparing healthy meals at home. Make eating together a priority, suggests de Guzman. She encourages mothers to “don’t go to the grocery store when you’re hungry” because it can lead to extra expenses in their budgets.
“My Life Is in Your Hands” emphasizes the importance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life. This is the first message from a presentation by Professor Angie Navasero from the University of Santo Tomas. Navasero also described five components of nurturing care, which include: good health, adequate nutrition, responsible care, and early learning opportunities. “In order to reach a child’s full potential, a child needs these five interrelated components,” Navasero said.
“In addition to providing children with nutritious meals, practicing good hygiene through frequent hand washing and thorough cleaning of utensils, cookware and frequently touched surfaces can go a long way in ensuring that every member of the family remains healthy throughout their lives,” Navasero said. “
Create a nurturing environment
Especially in today’s world, where health is understood beyond the physical environment. In her presentation, “The Importance of a Nurturing Environment for Children’s Health,” general pediatrician Dr. Joey Cuayo-Estanislao said that nurturing family relationships can help gain acceptance and action on family health, hygiene and nutrition practices. “One of the most important parenting disciplines is creating a safe and supportive environment for children that is sensitive to and responds appropriately to the child’s needs and distress,” said Dr. Estanislao.
Like Prof. Navasero, Dr. Estanislao talked about the five components of nurturing care. She explained that nurturing care is characterized by providing a stable environment that promotes health and optimal nutrition, protects children from threats, and provides them with opportunities for early learning through affectionate interactions and relationships. “A child’s home environment, especially how their parents/caregivers raise and support them, has long-term effects on multiple outcomes including a child’s physical, mental, developmental, and social-emotional health.”
The unremitting efforts of mothers every day
Throughout a child’s life, parents provide for good nutrition, health and hygiene practices. This show celebrates mothers’ relentless pursuit of instilling these best practices in the lives of their children.
Sachin Budhraja, president and general manager of Reckitt Benckiser Philippines, explained that the show was to celebrate Mother’s Day. “Celebrating the tireless work mothers do every day to build a healthier, cleaner home.”
All panelists agreed on the need to establish these best practices at home through shared experiences. “Parents and caregivers should model the behaviors and healthy habits they want their children to develop and should incorporate this into routine and consistency,” Dr. Estanislao said.
“Ask your child what they want by listening to their voices is a great way to find out what your child wants,” says mom Vanna. She said that while it can be difficult to get kids to eat fruit and vegetables, she advises mums to have a reward system. “Sometimes, the reward can be a cheat snack.” Reyes also shared, “Kids describe the time you spend with them as love.”
“In support of mothers across the country, the Modern Family Project aims to create the dialogue and provide the support mothers need to successfully keep their families healthy,” Budhraja added. “That’s because we are committed to doing the right thing, not just for our business, but also for the families we serve.”
